As we have a weak signal to start with in our part of Glen Urquhart, and we get a 4G tower are we likely to loose all our signal ?

Richard Goodson: As the Glen Urquhart transmitters span Ch's 41-47 its not quite so likely that 4G would cause problems, as 4G is more of a danger to channels in the mid 50's upwards, that said as the transmitter referred is only 18 watts at the most on its Vertical polarity signal then anyone receiving it at the extremities of its coverage range could be affected by the swamping effect caused by 4G transmitters "if" one is located within 70 yards or so from the persons residence.

Considering 4G filters are relatively low cost devices then it could be beneficial to purchase one should a person be in the aforementioned location.

Richard Goodson: Probably not. The frequencies of your local relay are well away from those of the current phase of 4G installations, so any problems are only likely if you use a high gain amplifier in the presence of a strong 4G signal, which results in the tuner being overloaded rather than any direct interference to the required signals. In such cases fitting a filter before the amplifier should remove the problem.

Richard Goodson: The reception problem referred to is most likely resulting from a series of high pressure zones which are presently sweeping across most Northern areas of Scotland, the intensity of varying at different times during each day and causing erratic / intermittent reception. Unfortunately these conditions are predicted as not completely clearing away until around next Wednesday evening, although there will obviously be a few spells of respite every day.

By the way, its not really possible to assess the signal levels expected at your location, as although Digital UK has your location listed under the Glen Urquhart VP (vertical polarity) freeview light transmitter, you are forecast as only being able to receive the HD transmitter with a reception status of poor, BBC and ITV (SD) transmitters not being receivable, albeit in reality you do.
