Bryan Clegg: According to Digital UK, some channels changed frequency at the end of last month (this website has no connection with the transmitter company or any broadcaster) although that was 27th February (there was not 29th Feb this year). Depending on your exact location (please provide a full postcode) your TV may have picked up a weak signal from another transmitter when retuning. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Do not attempt to retune when you have a weak signal as this will just make the problem worse.

I am living on the Wirral with my aerial pointing to winter hill. I get com 7 channel 55 going on/off. I've noticed that moly parc Wales has com 7 on channel 55, both horizontal. I have a high gain directional aerial that I had recently installed. I think that one transmitter, mop y parc, is interferering with the winter hill signal as I'm much closer to mol y parc.

At home ( CH2 4LN ), because of large trees, I have to tune in to Moel y Parc where I can only get the Welsh BBC 1, 2 and ITVWales. At my caravan in Talacre Wales ( CH9 ) again using Moel y Parc, I can get BBC 1 North West and ITV Granada. Why can't I get these channels at home?

Dave Makin: Moel y Parc only broadcasts the Welsh versions of BBC1/2 and ITV, it does not broadcast BBC North West or ITV Granada. From looking at the Freeview checker, it would appear that you should be able to get a good North West/Granada signal from Winter Hill if those trees weren't in the way. You haven't given a full postcode for your caravan, however it is safe to say that you must be receiving Noth West/Granada from another transmitter at the location, rather than from Moel y Parc.

Dave Makin:

Apart from the fact that I can't see any CH9 postcodes in the Talacre area which way are you pointing your aerial for what you think is Moel-y-Parc? It also should be horizontal polarisation.
If you are anywhere near the Talacre Beach caravan park area and if you are pointing it S for Moel-y-parc the predicted reception is not as good as other transmitters.
Also if you are picking up North West signals, as StevensOnln1 has said you must be getting them from another transmitter.

If you are pointing your aerial S, then the NW region signals are being picked up on a "side-lobe" of your aerial - in which case you might just as well point it the direction of the NW transmitters and get a more reliable signal.
There's only 3 likely transmitters, West Kirby is a "Light" transmitter just across the water on the edge of the Wirral but vertical polarisation (bearing 80 degrees - slightly N of E), Storeton which has 6 NW muxes (due E also vertical), but more to the point, Winter Hill (ENE bearing 60 degrees) which is predicted to give excellent reception there apart from COMs 7&8 but they are only slightly worse than Moel-y-parc.

If you know the UHF channels numbers you are picking up there, that may identify the transmitter you've been getting.

All:

Freeview have just announce the final 700MHz Clearance dates and the remaining change for Moel-y-Parc will be on the 12th August.

COM4/SDN multiplex is moving from C51 to C33.

This means that the final channels for Moel-y-Parc will be
C45, C39+, C42, C33, C36, C48, C55, and C27 that's in the order PSBs1-3, COMs4-7, & Local
Which of those multiplexes you can receive will (as always) depend upon your location, those that you currently receive should not change, there are no power changes and no further aerial changes should be required.
(Note - COM8 was closed by Arqiva for commercial reasons on the 22nd June, see Rebuilding Freeview High Definition from 2019 onwards | free and easy ).

Just to add to the above, if you had problems receiving the COM5/ArqA multiplex when it moved from C52 to C36, the COM7 multiplex when it moved from C32 to C55, and the Local multiplex when it moved from C56 to C27 all on the 27th February 2019, then you possibly needed an aerial upgrade if you haven't already got a Group T/Wideband aerial. After the final changes, if you are not predicted to receive the temporary COM7 HD multiplex on C55, or not interested in doing so, then a Group K aerial may be better if you are generally in a weaker signal area.
