J MURRAY: Regarding your latter question, no!
Its really a case of the commercial operators not considering that the area is large enough to be profitable, and as such not willing to pay for the Multiplex operating costs involved.
As you haven't mentioned your exact location, (post code) I had a look at the trade predictor based on Balloch Post office to check on the reception possibilities for the area, unfortunately no other transmitters seem to be within reach, this leaving Freesat as the only way of achieving a wider choice of programmes.

lou: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts that you should be able to receive all six muxes with good reception from Darvel. For best results from Darvel a group A aerial is required, mounted for horizontal polarisation and pointing SSE. There is no prediction made for reception from Rosneath.

caroline: The G83 postcode area is not very precise for giving an accurate prediction of expected reception, however in most parts of this postcode area it is usual to find excellent reception on the PSB muxes only from Milburn Muir (aerial set for vertical polarisation) and also good reception on all six muxes from Darvel (aerial pointing SSE with rods horizontal). Could you give more information about the TV and aerial that you are trying to use, without success.

j reilly: Sorr, no. Please see Will there ever be more services on the Freeview Light transmitters? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for why.
To be fair, you don't need to buy any boosters to get the rest of the services, just move your aerial to point at Rosneath (VP or HP) or Black Hill.

millburn muir transmitter - information tells us that this has been out of service since 11.30am but no indication of a likely resumption of service. If this is regular maintenance the day when the Paralympics start was slightly ill thought out.

Freeview s**ks Millburn muir has been offline since this morning for engineering works, ( maybe we will get all the freeview channels) well if someone is meant to be working on it I can't see a car or van and ive had my powerful binoculars( part time peeping tom) I wish someone could explain why I pay the same amount of money for a tv licence as someone that gets all freeview channels pays the same as me. Im seriously thinking of not paying my tv licence any more and challenge it on a fairness rule if it goes to court
