Our reception since Saturday has basically been dreadful. Most of the weekend all our channels were off, and then Monday afternoon to present time, lots of channels pixelate and then go to no signal. Basically been unwatchable now for five days.
What I don't understand is your map shows where green is the best reception and other small areas are yellow and a not so good reception. Yet the whole of Guisborough is colourless which would indicate that Guisborough is a no go zone for Pontop Pike.
Our aerial installer said we cannot get Bilsdale because of the hills, and that Pontop Pike is the designated transmitter for Guisborough.
Can you make any sense and give us guidance. Kindest regards, John.

John Leather: The transmitter that serves Guisborough is designated by Digital UK as Bilsdale West Moor, rather than Pontop Pike. Whilst Pontop Pike is the key transmitter for most of Northumberland, Bilsdale serves much of Teeside and North Yorkshire. Looks like your aerial installer needs to return to college or something! If you need guidance it is simply that high atmospheric pressure conditions have been disrupting Freeview reception since Sunday night, especially along the Eastern coasts of the UK. You need to wait until we are under the influence of lower pressure conditions, which are forecast to occur within the next couple of days, before your reception improves. What you must NOT do, under any circumstances, is a retune, because your equipment would then forget the channels it used to receive before the high pressure arrived. Hope this helps, Richard, Norwich.

Com 8 has been active for over a year now. Why is there only two channels sharing 24 hours? There should be another 5 slots for HD channels plus SD channels like Com 7.

David: The BBC are about to use it for additional temporary red button channels for the Olympics, but other than that presumably there aren't any other broadcasters interested in launching HD services on Freeview beyond those already available.

Sandra Bousfield:

You do not 'retune' a TV aerial. The availability of of any particular region depends on what the transmitter is set to radiate. To find that out, we need your full post code.

Robert Driscoll: The BBC haven't announced any dates for any regional news programs to begin broadcasting in HD yet. Although they have previously suggested that they could start rolling out HD regions in England this year, but no further details have been announced yet.
