Currently and for a while now, some channels - especially ITV1 - break up a lot and if I record on my PVR and try jumping around a programme, it goes all over the place.
It seems like the quality was massively reduced at some point.
Not sure when it happened but it's been quite a while now. I was hoping it was temporary. BBC1 is fine.
I would like the quality improved to how it used to be.

Paul: The posts above yours warn of engineering work affecting the Aberdare transmitter over the last few weeks. Unfortunately no completion date is given. It may be worth checking for any loose or damaged cables or connectors behind your TV which is a common cause of weakened signal, but do not attempt to retune.

And why is ITV1 not included on the list above in the "Which Freeview channels does the Aberdare transmitter broadcast?" list?

Paul: Looking back at the posts above, and on page 1, from "Transmitter engineering", the Aberdare transmitter has been listed by Freeview as having engineering works since 7 October.

Check your PVR is tuned to UHF channel 21 for ITV1, which is the signal from Aberdare.

Other programme channels carried on the same multiplex (PSB2 - D3&4) include S4C, Channel 5, ITV2, Channel 4, ITV3. A full list can be found here:

Thanks for the reply.
It has been bad for over a year. It's not due to current work.
Nothing wrong with my wiring. Good signal strength and SNR here.

It's the way it's being transmitted at low quality It seems it's been changed to have very low quality - bandwidth/bitrate/etc - at some point.
I'm a bit fed up of it now.

We already have reduced channels from the Aberdare transmitter. We also currently have reduced quality on major channels too.
It's not good enough.
