I understand that the signal from a dish is about 26Mhz and that a terrestrial aerial is about 7.5 Mhz
Why cannot both emit the same strength signals so that I could use the same digibox?

Dennis: You will really have to clarify what you are referring to, as signals picked up by satellite dishes (should you be referring to this) operate in the higher 10 to mid 12Ghz "microwave" frequency ranges and which are approximately 4 to 5 times higher than that used by your microwave oven, whereas terrestrial aerials used for Freeview and such likes operate on UHF frequencies from approximately 470 to 850Mhz or so, the latter being reduced to 786Mhz for purposes of accommodating 4G phone use.

Hi All,
Bit of a novice in this, i live close to Bolton in Manchester and when i auto retune my Humax PVR i get all the Welsh channels ! Not that i don't love to visit Wales .... but... i used to use channel 62 to tune manually, this does not work now, does anybody know what channel i use to just get standard BBC1 etc. Thanks. I think it maybe channel 56 ?

Simon Logan: The BBC and ITV channels from Winter Hill located at just under 9 miles away are on mux Ch50 (BBC) and Ch59 (ITV).

I receive MyP from my CH48 address (directly across the Dee Estuary) and usually the signal strength on all MX's is strong. However over the past few days CH48 ARQ B (ITV4, Film 4, Yesterday, 4seven etc) have all disappeared. Retuning doesn't bring them back althought the signal strength shown on mt RX says I'm receiivng the same as for ARQ A. Any ideas?

dms05: Although the indications for both muxes may appear to be the same it really depends on what's actually seen as they might be hovering around the cut off threshold for your TV or boxes tuner, although its the signal "quality" that is by far the more important of the two indications seen and should always be higher than the strength, albeit that some devices only give a combined indication.
The only way of accurately judging things is to go into your TV or boxes tuning menu / manual tune and enter Ch48 into the box but NOT followed by pressing search or scan, because the signal level should appear after entering 48, note what it is then change Ch48 for 52 once again noting the indications seen and giving an update on results.
By the way what you have mentioned indicates that you are receiving from the Moel-Y-Parc transmitter,

jb38 - you are quite right about 'Quality'. All the Mx's indicated Excellent/Very Good signal strength and quality except Ch48 which shows zero quality. I eventually tracked the problem and it was a cable connection - after remaking this Ch48 returned. Quite why all the other Mx's worked perfectly but Ch48 didn't is odd but I now have excellent/VG on all Mx's. Yes I do receive from MyP even though I'm close to a relay at West Kirby (1km) because the MyP reception is (a) better (b) has the HD and various other channels not on the relay. The draw back of course is I receive BBC Wales News from Cardiff but live on the Wirral!

dms05: Well if you want to pick up West Kirby, you should check UHF channels 27, 24 and 21 to see what their signal is like, and use those instead of MyP for your PSB channels.

All transmitters carry HD; it is the Commercial services that aren't available from all.

Slight correction concerning Moel-Y-Parc (pronounced Moyl-a-Parc) main transmitter.It is located in Flintshire but located in Wales/Cymru not in England.Sorry to correct you there.
