Gordon Rossiter: I am not sure of your point. As you say, West Runton only carries Public Service channels.
The explanation of why the Commercial broadcasters don't transmit from it is covered in my posting above (Wednesday 19 September 2012 3:02PM).

Why is reception from WestRunton so poor and when will it be improved to include more Freeview channels in Sheringham? An engineer has tried Tacolneston and we were previously on Belmont both of which gave very poor reception with a roof aerial installed in 2011. So far the old analgue system was far better!

F Clarke: As Sheringham is only a couple of miles from the 2kW transmitter, I would think that, generally speaking, it's very good. Exceptions may exist where the terrain or objects on the ground such as trees and buildings obstruct the path.
It could be the case that the signal going into your receiver is too high (owing to the relatively close proximity to the 2kW transmitter):

I covered why West Runton only carries Public Service (PSB) channels here:

As I said there, you won't be able to combine West Runton with Belmont to get all the Commercial channels, even if Belmont is a possibility.

paul bond: Ref: KMJ,Derby's explanation.
The simple answer is transmission costs. To equip most of the relay sites with transmitters for the COM muxes would have roughly doubled the cost of providing the service but only served a further 8% of the population, consequently the COM mux owners declined to add the service to additional masts when they were invited to do so.
A similar situation exists on radio, with Classic FM not being transmitted from smaller relay sites.

paul bond: I answered that question above!
See Sunday 17 March 2013 1:20PM.
One possibility is to use Belmont as your main transmitter, and feed the West Runton signal into a separate set-top box, for use when regional programming is being broadcast.

I am on the West Runton light transmitter. The last few days we have been having 'No signal' coming up and bad 'pixilation'.This is sometimes on the normal channels and then on the HD. We normally have very good signals, the TV and 'box' are nearly new. It appears that the problems exist when there is high pressure reported on the weather. Could this be the case?

I have lost all HD channels for over 24hrs. I have auto and manual retuned. But they have gone completely. I believe I am using Talconstonwest runton and cant see any outstanding works recorded that might cause it.
