John Brockett: I don't believe that the message does not have "intelligence" to know whether the retune has been carried out. Therefore it will continue for as long as it is broadcast.
Stockland Hill uses channels in the 20s and Beacon Hill's spans 40s, 50s and 60, so if you have the aerial unplugged for the first 30% of the scan this should miss out scanning of Stockland's channels.

Can you tell me what the typical polarity is for Freeview transmitters I have a camper van and roam around so what would be the typical ? vertical or horizontal ? do I need to install the antenna so that it is easy to change please, and if it various across the country is their a smart phone app that I can look up the direction ( using my sat nav) and the polarity, thank Bryan

Bryan: Generally speaking, the main transmitters are horizontally polarised and the relays are vertically polarised. Thus the vast majority of aerials are horizontally polarised.

Bryan: So touring areas that are served by horizontally polarised transmitters is preferred then!
Parking on high ground should leave you in good stead to receive from main (horizontally polarised) transmitters.

Another coupole of breakdowns in transmission.
Bring back Analouge which ran for years without problems.
If Sky / Freesat (which I cant receive)can provide 100% transmissions why cant an 'Earth Based' transmitter do the same.
Also why do 'Relay Transmitters' (like we have here in Dartmouth) have restricted Channels. We pay the same License fee but only get a few channels.

I live in Dartmouth on the 'South side of the valley, fairly high up the hill.
Before the maintenance on 5th June I was able to receive a signal from Beacon Hill, giving a very wide choice of programmes, but since then I am unable to receive any programmes from Beacon Hill, only the 11 programmes transmitted from our local relay.
WHY IS THIS???????
