Karen Scott : Hi Karen. Regretfully, the problem is not at Caradon Hill. The Government is extremely keen that as many people as possible in the UK view, "EU Referendum: The Great Debate", currently on BBC One. Here is a current quotation concerning the current state of the Caradon Hill transmitter: "This transmitter has no current reported problems-
The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Caradon Hill (Cornwall, England) transmitter." I suggest you check all aerial lead and plug connections, switch everything back on and try again, the motto being, "if at first you don't suceed..." This proverb always worked for my paternal grandmother! Richard, Norwich.PS, Your programme goes on until 10 p.m., so we're barely half way through at the time of writing.

Over the past couple of months BBC channels have been very unreliable. I was without red button for about 2 weeks, resulting in my complaining under the guarantee about my television, then all of a sudden it came back. Now it is very intermittent. I use it for the weather forecast. I never know whether I am going to able to receive BBC from one day to the next. I do not have any problem with ITV. I have emailed BBC in London asking them to look into it twice, but they do not have the manners to reply. My postcode is EX22 7EX , I have retuned my television several times. I never had a problem in the past. My aerial is in the loft, and was professionally set.

Annette Russett: You need to check your signal stengths on the various muxes - at just 32km from the transmitter, you should be getting a great signal - if anything, too good.
So if your getting a poor signal, then points to something wrong with your aerial system. I'm not surprised that the BBC has not replied - they must get many hundreds of such emails a week, and unless there is a pattern caused by an actual transmitter problem, its not their fault. Its as if people emailed a car maker because their car wouldn't go, when it turns out the petrol tank is empty. The reality is that the vast majority of such problems are local to the receiver.

D: Regarding Com 7 & Com 8 from the 30 main transmitters that transmit these two multiplexes, at the next tv digital switchover (DSO2), Com 7 & Com 8 will cease to exist. DSO2 will occur either later this decade or early in the 2020s, when everybody will be forced to receive Freeview tv in HD (high definition) and SD (standard definition) will cease to be transmitted. As a consequence of the plan for DSO2 as explained above, there are no plans for increasing the powers of Com 7 & Com 8 between now and the date of DSO2. Richard, Norwich.

Would like to know if there is there any work going on at Caradon Hill transmitter? As today all my three TV sets are getting a weak or no signal.
My kitchen & bedroom TV's keep breaking up, and completely losing signal intermittently. These two have indoor aerials which only occasionally have problems.
My main TV (which has a loft aerial, and almost never has a problem) is also breaking up badly today.
I am on a hill and can see the transmitter from my window, so we usually get a very good signal.
My postcode is PL7 5HP
Couldn't find anything on the site to say if there was a transmitter fault. Thank you.

Hi Jean
I am experiencing exactly the same - it was particularly bad last night. For me the problem seems to be limited to BBC and Channel 4

John Clegg: Hi John
It all seems OK now. Good signals on all TV's. I reckon there must have been a temporary fault at the transmitter. Or maybe something nearby was interfering with the signal.
We weren't affected last night, just this morning.
Hope you are back to normal too.
