Whats happened to UHF Channel 26 514 Mhz from the Chesterfield transmitter, low power and very poor quality, Channel 29 538 Mhz is also appears to be on low power though at least the quality is OK. Tuning is always tricky here as Chesterfield, Sheffield and Emley Moor are all more or less aligned.

ele: Looking on Google Streetview, aerials are pointing at Chesterfield transmitter which broadcasts the commercial multiplexes (which includes Film4, ITV3 and Dave).

Chesterfield was previously Group A (low channel numbers only). If you have not had your aerial replaced, you will probably need to do so in order to pick up the commercial multiplexes as they are not in Group A.

Would be grateful if someone could confirm whether I am on the right track with my thoughts. Trying to sort out my mothers Freeview, she keeps losing ITV1 since I retuned for Ch5 +1hr. She has new rooftop aerial pointed to Chesterfield transmitter.
Am I right in thinking her ITV1 should be on C23 ?
She currently has ITV C24 (very good), and also C44 (very good) on TV Channel 800 and C54 (poor) on TV channel 801.
From researching this site I presume these are actually Sheffield, Emley Moor, and Shatton Edge (?), and I need to manually retune to C23. Or am I way off track.

Keith: Looking at the channel allocations for the transmitters in the area, it would probably be easier and safer to manually tune them all, if possible.

Depending on the design of the receiver, if you manually tune to something that is already stored in the memory (i.e. in the 800s), it might do nothing because as far as it's concerned they are already stored.

If you go to the Digital UK tradeview, it gives you all the channel numbers from the stations in the area.

Chesterfield's channels are:

BBC 26
ITV1 23
HD 29
ITV3 43
Pick TV 46
Yesterday 40

All the HD Channels have gone off, nothing reported.
I am on the Chesterfield transmitter, was all working OK before I went on holiday.
I have carried out a retune, consequently Channels 50 51 52 53 are now missing.

Greg: There are no problems shown on the BBC status report with regard to any of the transmitters serving your area. Check that your aerial is still mounted correctly (rods vertical) and pointing North, I say this because C29 which carries the HD services from Chesterfield is also used at Waltham for the SDN mux. The Chesterfield signal is normally strong enough to drown out the Waltham signal, but in the event of the aerial being out of alignment the signals could simply cancel each other out. What is the signal strength like on the standard definition muxes? If you have any amplification on the aerial it is possible for too much signal to be the problem, as the HD mux is transmitted at double the power used on the other muxes to give Chesterfield a helping hand when competing with a signal from Waltham. Try a manual tune on C29, selecting DVB-T2 if asked to make a choice.
