To use the Sky receiver you will have to pay Sky for a 'Freesat from Sky' card. This cost in the £20's. When Sky upgrade their cards - usually every couple of years - you will have to pay again.

TVTUNER: Whilst in fact, the cards only provide access to 5*, 5USA, PICKTV and PICKTV+1, all the other channels can be watched without having a card in the machine.
In addition, the card will also set the BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 regions. These can be cleared to default using "Method 3" on What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fault'? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

We have just bought an HD TV, only to find that Hannington apparently isn't transmitting HD channels. Will this change on switchover, or have we just wasted a large amount of money ?

Thanks for that - it's a relief to know that our pennies (well pounds, and many of them) weren't wasted, even if we're going to have to wait some time before we get the benefit of HD.

I do not get channel 39 (BBC1) atall. If I move the tuner across, I get BBC1 from Guildford on ch40. But that is weak and grainy, since it is a different polarisation and around 80 degrees off beam. I have a JBX21W, thus there should not be any problems, especially since the other channels come out fine.
