Have used my tosh a LCD successfully on Hastings tranny for years. Just swopped sets for a Sony Bravia and having trouble with all mux 2 channels. Itv1, c4. Etc.
Bbc are perfect. Itv and c4 have really low signal and keep dropping altogether. Worked better in the mornings! Seems bad in evenings. Any ideas

Darren abel: When did the problem begin with the Mux2 signal? If you had entered your postcode a check could be made on the reception predicted at your location. It is possible that changes at Bluebell Hill or Rowridge are now affecting reception from Hastings in some areas.

I have just noticed we have a 'Freeview Light'.transmitter covering our area which is Earley Reading RG6 5QA. We get extremely poor reception on ITV3 (and the other stations in this eventail which we do not watch). Is this situation likely to improve? We already have free to air satellite to receive TV5monde so another satellite is not an option. We do not want sky and we have a new TV. I presume we are with the Hannington transmitter but where does the light transmitter fit in.

Lesley: I presume that you are referring to the Hemdean transmitter. Digital UK Tradeview doesn't even give a prediction for it, so I guess that you're not in the difficult area.

Some of the Commercial services are on low power from Hannington and this includes ITV3. These will go up to full power on 18th April when Guildford transmitter switches to digital and vacates the two channels use by Hannington.

This probably explains the issue you have been having.

Refer to this page: Freeview multiplexes | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice

Under "After switchover", SDN and ArqB are the ones on low power.

There will be no need for you to retune, assuming that you have ITV3 and Yesterday stored in your receivers. Don't re-scan if they are lost; this will simply result in them being lost from the channel listings.

eric: If your set has manual tuning, then manually tune to C27 for ITV1, ITV2, C4, C5 etc from Hastings. This will change to C28 from 13th June.

Anch: Wait until this Wednesday and ITV and other channels should become available. Only the BBC channels go to full power (and therefore become available to some for the first time) at the first stage of switchover. At the second and final stage, the rest go to full power (and become available for the first time for some).

Hastings

daniel badman: Post code checkers should be used as a guide only. I view the predictor as a guide to *possible* likelihood of success.

They exist because of the demand from people for such a service. Signals aren't carried by Royal Mail and there are so many variables that could never be taken into account that they can't be perfect. A whole post code can have widely varying signal levels, local obstructions (buildings and trees) aren't taken into account. Neither are the properties of a viewer's aerial, which also affects reception. There are other variables....

Prediction of the weather is much the same thing, although perhaps there is more chance of techniques being improved with it.

I'm a little puzzled by the results that the predictor returns for TN35 5EF because at the top where is lists the transmitters it includes Hastings, but then below where is gives the prediction for each one that is listed it doesn't include Hastings. By the way, "Hastings Old Town" is a different transmitter to "Hastings".
