Joshua : No one can really give advice on this type of query without knowledge of either your post code or at least one from nearby, e.g: a shop, as only then can the reception predictor be accessed and which gives an idea of the signal levels expected at your location.

Hi, Ive just put up a new antenna 3/4 the way up the house with a pretty good line of sight to Kilvey Hill in Swansea. However I keep getting channel no's 3,8,11 and a few others pixelating and breaking down. My reception is 48% and cant get it any better. Most of my other channels are perfectly watchable but im also not getting the HD channels that are transmitted from here. Ive put the same new antenna on a mates house in exactly the same position and its perfect with a 46%signal including the HD channels. has anyone any idea as to why the big difference between the two antenna locations? Thanks for your help in advance.

Paul White: Looking at the Digital UK tradeview link to the side of your post, it seems like Carmel is predicted to give you a better signal than Kilvey Hill. So presuming you didn't put up a group A aerial, I would try and see what kind of signal Carmel's UHF channels give you by doing a manual retune.

HD channels depend on the equipment rather than the aerial, so if you don't have Freeview HD then you won't pick them up.

Why do Relay T.V. Transmitters not have the full programme list of a Main Transmitter?

Alan Thomas: The simple answer is transmission costs. To equip most of the relay sites with transmitters for the COM muxes would have roughly doubled the cost of providing the service but only served a further 8% of the population. Cosequently the COM mux owners declined to add the service to additional masts when they were invited to do so. A similar situation exists on radio, with Classic FM not being transmitted from smaller relay sites.

I have a roof top aerial attached to a mast on the chimney, Often over the last few weeks a number of channels begin to pixelate as the night progresses. Also some channels appear to not be received. What can I do to improve and maintain good reception ?
