Hi there,
In the last few months I have lost Drama & Quest channels from the Kilvey Hill transmitter.
I see on your above table that this is the COM4/SDN MUX and that changes were made on the 17th Oct. 2018. (I seem to have also lost the other channels you list on this MUX)
Does this mean I should buy a Wideband aerial to restore these channels.
My postcode is SA67 8NT and my Group A aerial is mounted on roof.
Kind Regards,
Graham Richards

Graham Richards: All multiplexes broadcast from Kilvey Hill are well within the frequency range that should be receivable on an existing Group A aerial. Have you tried manual tuning on UHF channel 25?

Graham Richards:
Looking at the expected reception at your location using the Digital UK Coverage Cgecker, at Coverage Checker - Detailed View it suggests that reception of the BBCA and D3&4 multiplexes is likely to be poor and variable whilst that of the BBCB HD multiplex should be good. However, the signals from the Preseli transmitter are better and probably more reliable, it does however mean a change of aerial to either a Group B type or a wideband one. Preseli is only 25km from you on a bearing of 5 degrees, whilst Kilvey Hill is 54km distant. So I would suggest you consider having your aerial chaned and aimed at the Preseli transmitter.

Thanks for the info. I have now tried manual tuning but still no good. I will have to see if there is a problem on the roof and if not invest in a new aerial. Drama & Quest channels were always a bit 'iffy' especially in the summer.

Thanks for the info Mike. Yes I know Prescelli is quite close to me but unfortunately nobody in my locality is pointing that way. When I first moved here in the mid 70's I remember trying for the Prescelli transmitter without succss.
I will look on the roof for obvious cable problems with the wiring to the booster boxes etc but if nothing is obvious I will have to invest in a new aerial. The signal from Kilvey is generally good enough for most of the channels but marginal on Quest & Drama.

Just because other people are not getting the benmefit of all channels from Presceli doesn't mean you can't. If you look at the predicted reception at your location, go to Coverage Checker - Detailed View it will show you that reception from Kilvey Hill is expected to be variable to poor whereas Presceli is expected top be good on all channels.

Would you be kind enough to advise on any known reason why our television reception in Upper Killay is being disrupted please?
Many thanks.

There is engineering work going on on a lot of welsh transmitters this week and a major retune event at some including Carmel. Hpefully it will have settled down by the time you read this.

I have a digital TV card in my Linux computer and use Kaffeine software to watch TV. One of the few channels not picked up when I scan, is BBC Four from the Kilvey hill transmitter. It finds 98 channels. This is the Kilvey Hill section from the config file. Can I edit this to pick up remaining channels ?
