Hi
I have also got problems with Com7 & Com8 following the change of channels from Ridge Hill to 55 & 56. My Sony TV refuses to show any signal at all whilst my Panasonic Freeview HD recorder shows perfect signal strength & quality as does the Samsung TV in the kitchen. Since my postcode is WR8 9JJ my main TX is Malvern and I use a seperate aerial & amplifier for Ridge Hill through a diplexer (rewired to reflect the frequency changes). Prior to the channel changes I had a perfect signal on Com7 & Com8.
I was beginning to pull my hair out in trying to understand why some TVs can't pick up the signals whilst others can - I'm relieved to find I'm not alone!

Richard Sutton: I dimly remembered this:
"when I do a manual scan on mux 29, all three devices only show one TV channel on mux 29 which is ITV"
Which Freeview channels does the Ridge Hill transmitter broadcast?
Now with Com78 National we see this odd D3&4:
D3&4
ONID.TSID = 233A.201D
(
LCN SID TYPE SERVICE NAME

)
with only ITV on it!

Perhaps even stranger, there is full EIT for ITV3 on this multiplex even though ITV3 isn't in the SDT.
Here's the EITpf:

Assuming that the main BBC and commercial channels will eventually reappear on the Ridge Hill transmitter, has anyone got news on whether BBC 4 HD and Al Jazeera HD will ever return. They were on COM 7 and COM 8 which are now gone. I am living in Ledbury.

I meant to say the main BBC and commercial HD channels. The standard digital channels are working.

Barry Sharples: COM7 & COM8 haven't disappeared from Ridge Hill, they moved frequency on 1st March and are now on UHF channels 55 & 56 so you will need to retune.

Barry Sharples:
It could be that your aerial is unable to receive channels 55 and 56. If it is a Group A type, that will not be any use for those channels.
Freeview have some advice about getting your aerial changed (if you do not have Satellite or cable) and you should ask them.

Thanks MikeP, I read now on aerialsandtv.com that the HD MUXes 7 & 8 on channels 55 and 56 are due to be switched of around 2022 ie 4 years time with no clue as where BBC 4 HD, BBC News HD and Al Jazeera HD might go. Someone else said it doesn't.matter because so few people watch these channels. I guess I'm one of the few.

Barry Sharples: If the BBC switch off their SD channels and go HD only it would free up enough capacity for all of the BBC channels to broadcast in HD using the BBC's own capacity on the PSB1 & PSB3 multiplexes which are broadcast from every transmitter. If all muxes were converted to DVB-T2 there would be sufficient capacity for all the channels currently on COM7 & COM8 to move to other multiplexes (although whether all of the broadcasters could afford the additional costs of having their channels on a mux with higher coverage is another question). Unfortunately there has been no announcement by any broadcasters, multiplex operators or the government/Ofcom to indicate when any of this will happen.
