Neil Hasted:

As StevensOnln1 says, retuning was the wrong thing to do. What you should have done was check all your aerial cables and connections. A poor connection can cause loss of one or more channels. If there are coaxial plug/sockets, unplug them and then refit. That will clear any corrosion/oxidation that is known to cause such problems.

Cliff:

Please provide your full post code, as is requested in the text above the entry box you used. Then we contributors can look at the expected reception conditions at your location.

You should also check all the aerial connections and cables. If there are coaxial plugs/sockets then unplug those and then refit. That will clear any corrosion/oxidation from the contacts, which is a common cause of the type of problems you describe. Retuning is a bad idea when one channel is lost as you are likely to lose others that were perfectly tuned before.

Stuart Grant: What signal quality reading do you get? 100% signal strength could well be overloading the tuner with too much signal so it may be worth trying an attenuator. Resetting/retuning will never fix a signal problem and often just makes things worse by deleting channels which were correctly tuned to begin with.

Hi,

Brand new TV - Phillips 50PUS6703 and can only get channels quoted on the 522 MHz range (so glad I've got Sewing Quarter!). I live in Portsmouth and I'm using an outdoor digital aerial. Each time I attempt a re-tune I get the same 13 channels?

I remember seeing the frequency quoted on one of the settings menus as 522 MHz - why am I only getting these channels?

Glen:

Please provide a full post code, as requested, so we can examine the expected reception at your location.

There is no such thing as a 'digital' aerial as the encoding method used is not relevant to an aerial. Have you had a wideband aerial fitted? You need one for Freeview reception these days and it will serve you for many years.

Jeff Allen:

No recent work is listed fro Rowridge. Could it be that your aerial has moved in the recent very strong winds? It needs to be pointing at 220 degrees and be a wideband type. Also check all your aerial cables are in good condition and that any joints are also in good condition. If there are coaxial plugs/sockets present then unplug those and refit to clear any possible corrosion/oxidation from the contact surfaces.
