Barry:

Please provide a full post code (not the address) so we can look up the expected reception conditions at your location. Also check all your aerial cables and connections, unplugging all coaxial plugs and sockets, refitting them after checking they are in good condition. That will eliminate any possible corrosion/oxidation on the contacts that is a well known source of the problems you report.

Why does BBC4HD just disappear? Works one day, gone the next. Then periodically comes back. Then goes again. And so it goes on. And on. And on.... (No, there's nothing wrong with my aerial).

Maccers:

The transmitter does not suddenly stop transmitting just one of the programmes within a multiplex, so there must be a poor connection within your aerial system, which is a well known cause of such problems. That can give rise to a signal level that is marginally weak so check what signal strengths are shown on your TV, the ideal is between 60% and 85%. Less or more will give rise to intermittent loss of some channels. So check all the connections and unpliug any coaxial plugs and sockets, refit them and check again.

Anne: We need a full postcode to access your coverage prediction. The first half of your postcode covers a wide area and won't give any results for the coverage checker.

Dear Briantist,

I live in PO21 3AQ and have a vertically polarised high gain antenna pointed at Rowridge. I get Sony Crime +1 on Channel 60 on two Sony TVs reliably. I cannot get it on a Panasonic. All the other expected channels are present. I've cleared the channel list by restoring to pre-delivery and retuned several times.
Any ideas would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Rob

Rob James: According to the DigitalUK coverage checker your postcode receives a poor signal across the board, particularly the local multiplex (C37) which I believe carries Channel 60, although at very low power, and no improvements planned through to 2020. It also says that Rowridge does not transmit this multiplex at all on vertical polarisation so you could try horizontal, although this may compromise reception on other channels.
