On turning on the TV this morning at 07:00,I had a very poor signal. This has remained the same all day. When I retune, I get even less channels.
Until today, we have not had any problems. Can anybody assist?

There are many things that would cause your issues.
1. problem with tv aerial
2. problem with tv cable from aerial
3. problem with distribution unit
4. problem with connections
5. problem with tv tuner
6. too much signal
7. not enough signal
far to many issues to guess which one is your issue without fully testing the system.
Are there more than one tv on the system, and if so do the others have the same issue, if they do then you can take issue 5 off your list.
If you have no other TV's then try a digi box.
Then try a new cable
then try a new aerial
Or just call a local engineer who should do a system test for FREE if they are nice :)

If you system signal is marginal then you will notice issues during hot periods.
You will also have the same effect if you have too much signal.
If your system is outside and 20 years plus in age then you may consider having an upgrade.
If your issues are the same on multiple tvs then the issue will definitely lie with the system.
If the issue is on just one tv then you could look at replacing the cable to that one outlet.
If your system was in tip top condition then you would be less likely to notice issues in the changes of weather :)
The transmitter works may have only be a coincidence and actually the issues could be due to the heat and your system being vulnerable with regards to its signal quality.
The quality of the signal that you are receiving is far more important the strength.

Thanks Jamie. The one thing I didn't mention is that we have a lot of trees in the vicinity.
We have experienced poorer reception in the past due to weather conditions, and possibly trees being in leaf, but never anything as bad as this zero quality on all muxes.
And it went suddenly, just as that engineering work started (and the heatwave), so we assumed it must be that.
Maybe it was just a coincidence and something has gone wrong with our aerial or the cable connecting it to the main TV setup? (The other TVs are fed from this via some sort of distribution system in the loft, as left by the previous owners.)

I live in Ferring West Sussex and about 10 pm every evening for the last couple of weeks stations like Dave, Drama, Pick TV ITV 3 have dropped out. The next morning they seem to come back. Now they have all gone apart from the main channels. I have retuned but they will not come back. I have checked all cabling etc and nothing seems amiss. Has the station stopped transmitting these channels or has power been reduced ?

Power has not been reduced.
Its is more likely that the mux that runs these channels is running marginal and you are now experiencing issues with them.
If your antenna is sited outside it will not last forever, general about 20 years but that does depend on the quality of the materials used.
You should only return your set when there has been changes to the tv channel line up.
If your receiver cannot see a channel when the aerial is not working correctly then all a retune will do is delete it from the tv memory.
Retunes do not fix problems with system reception.
If you are running more than 1 tv maybe try rigging the system to just one tv and see what reception you get.
failing this I would look at changing the antenna or is location.

I am in Southampton SO17 and have had problems witht he ArqA channels for that past couple of weeks. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Nothing has changed in my configuration or elsewhere in my house.

Hi,
Its difficult to say without viewing the install but here are a few pointers.
**all of which are tricky without the correct test equipment** :)
there are only a few things that will cause issues on only a single mux.
You may have something in the line of sight which is making the reception on the one mux marginal, this can be cured by mounting the aerial in a different part of the house which doesn't have the obstruction.
When it is hot you lose signal strength, if one or more mux are running on marginal reception then this drop in signal strength will be noticed on the channels you view.
You will need to get all 6 muxs running at the same strength and quality so that you never have issues in hot or cold weather.
Changing your aerial so that it is Vertical rather than Horizontal could assist the issue, also moving the aerial to a different part of the building could also be another thing to try.
Vertical reception on Rowridge is transmitted at a stronger reception rather than horizontal.
If your antenna is 20years plus in age you should also consider replacement.
The main thing to remember is that the strength and quality of the signal at the point of the aerial is the most important thing, if the reception is not correct at the beginning of the install its never going to be right further down the cable regardless of what you do.

My install hasn't changed for a couple of years so hopefully it is the recent weather, but I shall try moving the aerial to see if that improves things.

Hi,
I live in BH6 and have two Samsung LCD TV's both running off the same ariel. My older TV upstairs is absolutely fine but I appear to be having intermittent problems with picking up ITV/CH4/CH5, in fact the same channels as on the D3+4 Mux (C27 frequency).
Given that its fine some of the time but not others I think I can discount cabling, I've retuned/reset and downloaded latest firmware updates. Can anyone suggest what it could be?
