Gillie Sturcbecher: The connections you can see might be fine, but if your signal is weak or non-existant, then its almost certainly a problem with your system, probably a break (or wires so frayed as to be almost useless) or pssibly moisture in the wiring somewhere.

Since yesterday We have lost all HD channels from Stockland Hill. Reception up to then was very good. Digital channels are now breaking up a bit as well. Retuning finds no HD channels.

Can you please explain why Stockland aerial does not transmit Freeview Channel 71? This is motors TV.

anne west: Because it is carried on a new quasi-national multiplex (signal) -- known as COM7 -- which also carries BBC Four HD, BBC News HD and other HD services. Even if it was available from Stockland Hill, you would still need a Freeview HD receiver in order to watch it.
COM7 is only available from 30 transmitters, serving about 70% of the population. Its purpose is to encourage uptake of Freeview HD (DVB-T2) receivers, in much the same way as Freeview prior to switchover was to encourage uptake of Freeview (digital) receivers, that also not serving everyone.
The reason it is available from "only" 30 transmitters is to keep costs down as it utilised equipment already in existence, used prior to switchover.

Mike : See Digital UK Engineering Works:

Stockland Hill's status is "Possible weak signal" so don't adjust your set, it's probably the works that are causing your issue.

Hi at just before 1pm on 9 March the elec. power very quickly went down and up again and ever since that time we have had no free view signal through our aerial. We do have free sat signal though the satellite dish which is on the outside of our house next to the aerial. Our post code is TQ11 0LL and we were just wondering if there was a fault or work was being done on the transmitter to have caused a problem. I have checked all the TV's which rely on a signal through the aerial and they are all saying no signal.

Mrs H Cory: First thing: do not retune any TVs!
If there is a powered amplifier/booster then this is the most likely suspect. If it has a light on it, don't assume that just because it is on that the unit is functioning normally.

Dave Lndsay: we also have lost our signal BA21 3JH. Television working fine until 11 a.m. and then no signal and sometimes it will come on again later on in the day and and then go off again about 7. This has been happening over the last few days. We have bought another amplifier/booster and still no signal. Can you help.

Mrs Ila Shepherd: You should, according to DigitalUK, get a really good signal from Stockland Hill, and I'm frankly surprised at the need for a booster, although there is some high ground which might be a problem along the signal path.
However, if your getting 'no signal', then your TV is telling you thats its getting nowt (a booster will make no difference). And since there seems to be no prblem with the transmitter, the fault is within your system. If its regualrly going off and coming back on at regular times, thats probably 'single source interference' (you can google it on this site), which is most likely a dodgy timed thermostat, etc.
If its a bit more random, then its more likely to be a frayed/loose connection, water in a connection (a classic after heavy rain), etc. Check each bit of the system back towards the aerial, to make sure everything is OK, and obviously make sure that there is nothing that is coming on at those particular times which might cause interference.
