Assuming it's an HDS-600RS
A search for 'HDS-600RS "Manual scan"' brought me to:
https://www.avforums.com/…ge-2
where this post:
https://www.avforums.com/…7736
says:
"To view non- freesat channels on the Echostar, first you have to add the required channels as follows.
Main menu - Settings - Tuning - Manual scan.
Enter the frequency, symbol rate, LNB polorisation, etc. Then select scan.
You can only scan one transponder at a time.
When you have finished, do the following.
Main menu - Settings - Tuning - Viewing Mode, and select Non- Freesat mode, then press Exit.
Press OK to view the channel list. Channel numbers start at 5000.
As you can see, non- freesat mode is a bit of a pain on this receiver."

thanks.
how do I find the symbol rate etc?
I am still not quite following this. You are telling me there is more than one transponder from that satellite transmitting sky news Why? And I thought the only ones were freesat and sky.
I recall years ago I had several dishes, set on different foreign satellites which I connected to my sky box in turn. I could tune it for example to RAI from Italy. But after a very short time it forgot I had tuned it to RAI and I had to start again.

nick horrex: There are two versions of Sky News on satellite, one for Freesat & Sky UK viewers and a separate versions with different ads for Sky Ireland viewers. There are numerous channels with separate ads for Ireland (different advertisers with prices in Euros).

nick horrex: Sky News is still on Freesat channel 202.
Al Jazeera is broadcast on the COM6/ARQB Freeview multiplex on LCN 235. The version on LCN 267 is streamed via a portal on SDN/COM4, which is accompanied by Al Jazeera Arabic on 268.

It may be that your box has not updated automatically, in which case a Freesat scan might restore the service.
