Just completed the 27th June 2012 retune. I have lost ITV3,5*,5USA,Quest and some shopping channels. I have gained ITV4, Film4, Russia Today and some shopping channels. Is this par for the course?

IP4 2BT roof aerial.

Thornberry.Ipswich,IP4 2BT.If your aerial is polarised horizontally and directed at Sudbury itself, try firstly to perform a full reset of your appliance, then with the aerial unplugged perform an automatic scan the result no channels will be found. Now after this replug in your aerial and preferably do a manual scan of the multiplexes from Sudbury,it should do the trick.

Julian Fasler and Thornberry, I had the same problem until i discovered pick tv, 5 USA, 5* and itv3 etc have moved to channel 58 and channel 60, just do a manual scan on these two channels and you should get a the missing channels.

At last! It's been a struggle over the past months and years, but it looks like we now have a full service from Sudbury (at least I have here!). And good advice from Mark Fletcher: clear the tuner's memory of all channels, then re-scan.

Yes ArqA along with SDN and ArqB are now broadcasting on 100kw apiece.
As for the missing programmes you stated did you rescan your appliance.
Better still perform a full reset of your appliance then with the aerial unplugged do a automatic scan,it will pick up zero channels. Now after this plug the aerial back in only this time preferably manual scan the channels instead,it should work !

Mark Fletcher.
I cleared all channels as you suggested but on a manual scan Channel 60 has virtually no signal strength or quality.I think the problem must lie with my (rather elderly) aerial.

Thanks for your advice.

Julian Fasler. No problem. Is it just the ArqA multiplex you are having a problem with.
If as you stated the problem lies with your elderly aerial is it coloured yellow at its tips, denoting a group B aerial.
If so you may have to replace your aerial with a group E semi-wideband type coloured brown at its tips, either a Yagi 18E or an X-Beam 16E antenna, and simultaneously replace both the aerial cable with superior copper-copper black coloured co-ax cable and co-ax aerial plug, preferably brass aerial plugs, not alloy or worse plastic plugs they're useless.

Julian : I also suspect you have an old Group-B aerial which only goes up to CH53 (officially) but is probably just getting CH56 and CH58, but not stretching to CH60. Radio Suffolk actually ran a piece on Sunday (by me) highlighting this potential problem with older aerials. You will need to do what Mark Fletcher says!

Julian Fraser: You can't really compare signal strength meters between devices. However, you can compare the strengths of the different multiplexes with the same device. See if 56 and 58 are quite a bit lower than BBC and ITV on 44 and 41 respectively. This would tend to suggest that your Group B aerial is not good enough for C60 which quite a bit out of group.
