Don't forget there could be the possibility of interference from any of the local 4G tranmitter(s) or in house RF devices, as is becoming a more frequent issue.
A 4G filter on the incoming terrestrial coax can fix the first item, moving your wireless router-modem and / or cordless phone / cellphone could be a fix for the other.

Gordon Insley:

4G is transmitted only on channels above 60 and so will normally only affect signals in that band ro those very close to. That means channels 58, 59 and 60 could possibly be affected if, anbd only if, there is a 4G transmitter in the surrounding area. Channels from Sutton Coldfield are not affected by 4G as they are too low a frequency (channel number).

I seem to be having problems with certain channel on Sunday 5th June. It seems to affect Challenge, Viva and a few others. Can you tell me if there is a problem as I watch Challenge quite a lot of the time especially at weekends and I don't want to lose it?

Kevin Greenhill:

To be able to offer any assistance it is essential that you give a full post code so it can be determined what transmitter you use, where you are in relation to that transmitter, whether there are any maintenance works currently, whether there are any reception problems due to terrain or buildings, etc, etc.

j jenkins : Is it worth checking that there is no other electrical or electronic equipment in your accommodation that could be causing interference to your Freeview reception? For example, you could check what happens when fridges, freezers and washing machines turn on or off. Do you have any switched power supply plugs or power line telecommunications plugs (PLT). Do you have any leaky HDMI equipment or leads which can cause interference on Freeview receivers? I am assuming you have checked all of the obvious, such as the connection between the wall plate and your receiver... Were you aware that West Midlands Freeview television transmitters were reconfigured on the PSB1 mux on 1st June, so you should have carried out a retune since 1st June anyway? Richard, Norwich.

J Jenkins:

Further to that said by Richard Cooper, we need a full post code so that we can check whether or not you are receioving sigfnals from Sutton Coldfield, especially as there are several nearer transmitters that may be possible.

Also, as you appear to be on a shared communal aerial, have you asked your neighbours whether their Freeview signals have been giving problems at the same time yours have? If they have, then you need to contact the management organisation and have the system checked. If they have not, then you may have problems with connections within your flat or with the TV equipment.

I have two Sony Bravia tv's at different locations both with the same problem. They are both set to Sutton Coldfield but neither will receive the programs on channels 33 or 35. I have tried auto and manual tuning but they will not detect either way. I also have a Humax freeview box and that works perfectly on those channels. I have a good roof aerial and post code is B31 2RT

Philip Cooke:

The most common reason for this type of problem is having a TV set that does not have an HD tuner. I know some Sony sets do not have such and some do, so we would need to know the precise models numbers of each of the sets to determine if they are really capable of receiving and displaying HD programmes.

I've not been able to record programmes recently on channels 4 and 5 plus many others . I've always been able to record anything in the past. The TV appears to be recording but when I go to view them from the library it comes up No Video. I don't record with videos, just the free view box. I've been using this system for years and never had a problem. I'm tuned into Sutton Coldfield.
