I have just purchased a new TV set and after the tuning-in procedure I find that ITV1, ITV2, Channel 4 and Channel 5 have not been accessed. I have been told that routine maintenance work on the local transmitter in the Tunbridge Wells area is resulting in a weak signal thus causing these channels to be omitted. Is this correct and when can I expect the signal to improve?

Jim Moth: There is no "routine maintenance work" (who tell you such claptrap?) - please can you see Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for help.

I am trying to get Sky Sports through Top-Up TV in Tunbridge Wells but the signal seems non-existent on Frequency 45 which is seems to be using. Am I wasting my time trying? I have a new broadband aerial filtered to only receive transmissions from Tunbride Wells. All other channels except BBC4 are fine.

Richard: You should not be having problems with C45 - assuming you have a rooftop aerial - please can you see Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice ?

Brian - Thanks for that. All the problematic channels are on the same frequency.

The only other electrical items in the vicinity are :

1. DVD connected to Freeview box by Scart.
2. Disused Sky cable which used to be connected to a Sky box.

I have a wideband aerial. Any further thoughts - thanks.

Dismantled set up and started again with no other devices attached to freeview box and TV. There are no other electrical devices nearby. Could it be that the tuner in the freeview box is too weak to pick up this frequency with any strength or quality?

Richard: Well, yes, but that's multiplex A that is weak and not Multiplex B.

Whatever it is it can't be single frequency interference as there are no other devices around. Must be a problem with the (new) aerial.
