Masses of pixellating followed by intermittent black screen, retuned, now can only get 5 : 007, 048, 050, 061 and 207. And now 048 is doing the same. This happens every summer and is infuriating - can you tell me why? Surely nowadays something can be done.

Linora Bennet: Retuning is never a good idea if you suddenly loose as you've now deleted most of your which were previously correctly tuned. If it happens every summer then you are probably experiencing the effects of signal lift, where the hot weather causes signals to travel further than normal which causes signals from distant transmitters to interfere with the signals from the you are trying to receive. This is an entirely natural phenomenon which has been understood by scientists and broadcast engineers since UHF TV began in the 1960s.
