Hi Steve,
I turned the house upside down to find my WinTV cds! To update to 7.2 Hauppauge say you need a WinTV 6 or 7 cd. I tried 5.5 - wouldn't update. Tried another three or so cds - all apparently too old. Then I found 'WinTV - WinTV-Nova series; WinTV-HDR series; myTV.t' version 4.6. It worked...

Just downloaded Progdvb, all channels are working correctly. Hmmm something has changed at the transmitter side which mce isn't happy with.

Steve H:

That was the conclusion that I, somewhat reluctantly, was coming to.

Well done for making progress.

I had used ScanChannelsBDA_UK.exe to check my reception on MCE.

So, not Win or drivers but something specific to MCE then...

Steve H:

I think that this is normal. I found a website once that showed all the sizes for all the channels.

Well, I have finally got access to the PC and tried ProgDVB and PSB2 works for me too.

Can't help but wonder if the 'TV setup date for your region' is downloaded in the background, as in the background scan.

I had disabled the backgroud scan in the past but it hasn't given me any trouble for some time so haven't bothered recently.

Might try disconnecting from internet and restoring previously working image. At least I have an SSD so it is quick to switch images.

This might just give another clue but not a solution.

Looks like we need a fix from Microsoft though...

Televisions in more than 800,000 East Midlands homes may have been affected by work to upgrade transmitters.
The work is being done to improve the 4G mobile phone service.
from BBC News - Waltham transmitter work prompts TV retune alert

so is 4g being broadcast or not only if it is could this be the reason wmc are having trouble

i rang at800 | 4G Interference | 4G Filters | Let's be clear at 800 Mhz and they said they have no 4g on waltham

stef: Are you being serious? You're asking if 4G is in operation, having just rang the company that knows where 4G is switched on and being told there is no 4G?
