My 81 year old mothers new digital tv was working fine after switch over in april but in the last 2 weeks she is experiencing major problems with digital signal on all BBC chanels. Have you done something to the signal strength as nothing has changed in her set up here. She has hearing aids so the sqweeks and tweets delivered by poor signal on all BBC chanels is quite irritating for her ears. She cannot afford SKY subscription and has not received any assistance with digital switchover. We purchased a new tv for her for christmas.

The Switchover Help Scheme can help you make the switch to digital TV. | Switchover Help Scheme .
I would have a look at Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .
You don't have to subscribe to watch via satellite, you can always use Freesat.

I Currently have a wide range aerial on the chimney stack of my Bungalow
Tuned to wenvoe I receive channels
c41 c42 c44 c45 c49 I cannot pick up C47
I am also picking up c54 from mendip transmitter. The quality of picture varies from day to day and during a day and I also get distorted sound some of the time.
bbc 1 and bbc 2 wales are the best channels but they sometimes break up. We Live in the country but the is a large tree 50 mtrs away from the aerial blocking the direct line of site of the transmitter.
DOI stick with freeview or change to freesat

David Corrick: Looking at your location I'd suspect too much signal rather than too little. If you have a booster or other amplifier, try turning it down or removing it. You might try adding an attenuator to reduce signal levels.
You won't get C47 unless your TV or box has the Freeview HD logo. This multiplex transmits with a newer standard, called DVB-T2, which gives much more capacity. If your TV is 'HD Ready', you can add a Freeview HD set-top box or PVR to decode the HD signals.

We've been coming to Cardiff Caravan Park ( CF11 9XR )in our motorhome for 3 years now and always regarded the Freeview reception as a 'benchmark' for Digital TV (Wenvoe TX). Back in 2010 we used to get about 136 channels on tuning our Freeview TV (22" Technika) - I note that now we only get 106 - why is that ??
Thanks
Harry

Harry Butler: Sounds like you used to see "duplicate" channels from other transmitters in your old total, and now you don't.

"Sounds like you used to see "duplicate" channels from other transmitters in your old total, and now you don't"
On reflection - I think you're right - my 22" Techika doesn't tune the 'duplicate' 'Wales' channels which probably accounts for the reduced number

Why are the commercial channels from the relay mast at Cymmer Port talbot losing signals & breaking up. I have three TVs running off three different aerials & the three sets are affected. It is a bit much as we don`t even recieve all the channels, so much for digital & freeveiw.

G. Thomas: Please forgive my lack of knowledge of your local area. What is the transmitter you are referring to? Can you post your post code and the direction of your aerials?
Most relays do not carry the commercial channels, so if your receivers are picking them up, then it might not be from the transmitter you refer to.
