Ste: If I'm reading you right, your expecting the channel number 34 to be the one on the EPG - it wont be. Its still 106 on the EPG - Ch34 is actually the frequency, and therefore as long as you can pick it up, thats all you need to do.

Hi.
Thanks for that, I appreciate it.
No, I'm not expecting it to be 34 on the EPG.
I tune to BBC4 HD, which is currently 106 on the EPG.
I go into manual tuning, which starts on the channel I'm tuned to, so it's on CH37.
But a retune there doesn't find 4HD any more.
I searched around the channels, and it picks it up on CH34, but still on 106.
So I go back to the tuner, which still says no signal on 106.
Go back into manual tuning and I can see it still thinks 106 is on CH37.

So.
Thinking it might be the PVR box, I've tried the same thing with my telly.
As I never watch the telly, it's still tuned to 31 which I think is where BBC 4HD was in January.
Exactly the same result as on the PVR, just substituting the number 31 for 37.
Surely I can't be the only person who's lost BBC4 HD?!

I think it's on 34 cos I must be picking it up from Moel-y-parc, which I try to avoid as the signal's a bit flaky by the time it gets here.
But why has it gone from Winter Hill?

Hi. Since the Winter Hill mux changes on the 21/01/2018 (if I recall the date correctly) both of my Digital Stream PVRs have been affected by something being transmitted in COM7 and / or COM8. Both PVRs end up with corrupted firmware and require a firmware reinstallation; the symptoms are either stuck at 'loading' when switched on from stand-by, or stuck at 'bye' when switched off. If left disconnected to the aerial feed then they remain fine (but obviously cannot record anything). If manually tuned to all but Channel 31 and 37 (COM7 and COM8) they remain fine. This is not 4G interference; I have filters which do work (no more pixellation or blocking). I am not the only Digital Stream user suffering from this problem. I know that these are old machines, but they are excellent devices, and apart from the COM7 / COM8 problem, continue to give good service. Can some technical person please look into this? I understand that something similar happened a couple of years ago, and it turned out to be corrupted EPG data. Could this be the same kind of issue> Help would be appreciated, since I would like to be able to record BBC4 HD once again, but currently dare not tune into it (it is on channel 31 - COM 7). Many thanks.

STe: 106 BBC FOUR HD is on COM8.
After the March 7 changes at Winter Hill:
COM8 is on 554 MHz, UHF 31
ARQB is on 602 MHz, UHF 37
COM7 is on 746 MHz, UHF 55

and it turned out to be corrupted EPG data.
Yes, my EPG has been playing up since January. Taking sometimes until the day itself to update when it used to be a week ahead.
js - thanks, yes.
I've retuned it back to 31 for now, but since that's the one from back in Jan I assume we're going to lose that pretty soon?
More importantly, why has it gone from COM 8 where it should be?

David: The appearance of the Com78 National network on com7 and com8, around 15/01/2018, is a significant change.
The EIT-schedule on Com78 National has an overall cycle time of 900 seconds and carries full 8-day schedule for 1196 services, in what appears to be all mainland multiplexes - everything but NI and CI.
The EIT-present/following (now/next) cycles in 8 seconds for all 1196 services.
Whatever the reason for the behaviour of the Digital Stream, it would seem there is no fault in the broadcast data since other devices are coping.

I've retuned on two different types of device by two different manufacturers and BBC4 HD has disappeared from COM8, which I'm getting a strong signal.
Seems unlikely it's not the transmitter.
