The Freesat home transponder carries the data needed to set the Freesat region appropriate to a given postcode.
If the Freesat home transponder is not accessible, the postcode cannot be used and a Default region is used.
The Default region is 101 BBC London 103 ITV1 [London] - 112 ITV1 + 1 being absent.
The Freesat home transponder is horizontally polarised.
Loss of horizontally polarised transponders is a likely cause of this circumstance.

My first message contained a useful list but was treated as spam and lost.
Here is a list showing transmission parameters that can be used to diagnose where faults lie:
England HD - Default LCN Frequ p srate type modsys FEC ServiceName101 - Pastebin.com
maybe that works?

js, thanks.
So you are saying that even though I have BBC east on 101, it is possible to have ITV1on 103? [my situation.]
Others tell me this is standard and that ITV Anglia may be elsewhere.....on one of the channels which are missing.

nick horrex: Yes.
The User Guide for the HDS-600RS states:
"The Settings menu allows you to configure the unit and to set personal preferences"
Under Settings -Tuning Preferences - Regional channel customisation
is the option to "Choose different regional channels to those assigned during setup."
You have evidently changed 101 BBC ONE Ln HD to 101 BBC ONE EstHD.

For some reason, when you last carried out a Freesat tune, a region could not be assigned to your postcode
When this happens, a Default region is used
Your box has the channel list of the Default region:
England HD - Default
LCN ServiceName
101 BBC ONE Ln HD
102 BBC TWO HD
103 ITV1 HD [London]
104 Channel 4 HD [London]
105 Channel 5 HD
107 BBC THREE HD
108 BBC FOUR HD
109 BBC ALBA HD
110 BBC Scot HD
113 ITV2 HD
114 ITV2+1
115 ITV3 HD
116 ITV3+1
117 ITV4 HD
118 ITV4+1
119 ITVBe HD
120 S4C HD
121 Channel 4 + 1 [London]
...
