The list of channels is confusing me.
Can some one please explain why the list of channels on the main section under the title "Rowridge transmitter Freeview broadcasts" are listed as:

24, 27, 31, 30, 37, 33
BBCA, D3+4, BBCB, SDN, ArqA, ArqB

But further down under "Transmission frequencies" for "After Wednesday 21st March 2012" they are listed as:

C21+,C22+,C24,C25,C27,C28,C30,C31,C36,C37 BBCB,ArqA,BBCA,SDN,D3+4,ArqB,local,com7,com9,com8

As we are now in April shouldn't these be the same channels, which is the correct set?

Rob Hayward: The channels listed under "Rowridge transmitter Freeview broadcasts" are correct now, up until the end of 17th April.

Those shown under "Transmission frequencies" for "After Wednesday 21st March 2012" are in fact those that will be used from 18th April onwards (with the exception of 30, 31, 36 and 37).

The significance of 21st March was that was when the second stage of switchover occured. In many cases there are now further changes. However, in the case of Rowridge, the Commercial multiplexes stay on their pre-switchover channels until 18th April.

Rob Hayward: The penultimate sentence of the last paragraph should say "In many cases there are *no* further changes."

digital one tell me that the reason hd icons on itv and channel four dont appear on my panasonic epg althought bbc hd icons do appear is because salisbury is fed off air from rowridge and will not correct its self until rowridge goes full power on the 18 april Aquiva tell me salisbury is landline fed who is correct?

Similar problem to Ray Gustar, my girlfriend has a Samsung series 3 ta300 22 which turns itself off every few minutes. If she auto retunes it stays on longer. She says it was fine b4 the switch over.

david: If the icons on channel numbers 3 and 4 indicating HD programmes don't appear, that's a data feed problem or a problem with your box. Salisbury is line-fed from Rowridge, and has been since 1998, so is broadcasting exactly the same data that Rowridge is - except for COM4 and COM5 as those are yet to reach their final modes at Rowridge. ITV1 and Channel 4 in SD, and their +1s, are all carried on PSB2, and the HD services are both on PSB3. Both multiplexes are at their final configurations at Rowridge already.

The feed is definitely shown as line-fed in Digital UK's final installer newsletter for the Rowridge group: http://www.digitaluk.co.u….pdf

Salisbury was fed off-air for analogue, and perhaps this could still be used as a back-up if the line feeds fail - though I've read that each line-fed transmitter has two independent feeds from the two nearest telephone exchanges, and the BBC multiplexes (PSB1 and PSB3) can also be recreated from a satellite transmission if both lines fail. It would be interesting to see if vertically-polarized receiving antennas have been fitted, as has happened at most of Rowridge's other relays.

Sean: translating those frequencies into channel numbers (subtract 474, divide by 8, add 21):

22+ => 37
25 => 30-
46 => 24

Rowridge doesn't yet use C22 or C25, it's probable that whatever data you used to update the HTPC has the final configuration, not the current interim one. C30- and C37 are the correct current frequencies for those services. These will change to C22+ and C25 (plus ArqB moving from C33+ to C28) on 18 April.

C46 could possibly be Brading on the Isle of Wight, though that would be PSB2/D3&4 (broadcast from Rowridge on C24) not PSB1/BBC A which broadcasts from Rowridge on C27. The nearest transmitters using C46 for BBC A are Till Valley and Winterbourne Stickland - the latter is more likely. It's probably just a freak occurrence due to the weather. You are practically guaranteed to get some overlaps at different times of the year.

Mike

Thanks for the reply. The software I use for the HTPC is getting the frequencies from a scan of the NIT. They're still implementing and adjusting the software for the NIT scan (http://www.4therecord.eu/), but I also tried what the software calls 'a scan including the offset frequencies' (bit of a mounhful ;)) after the first change in March and still picked up the same duplicate channels. Also tried MediaPortal's (http://www.team-mediaportal.com/) TV Server with the same results.

Hopefully it'll settle down after 18th April. It's not a huge hassle manually removing the channels, I was just curious where they may be coming from.

Thanks again

Hi first time I've posted so i'll include as much info as possible. Two days ago I lost all signal on two multiplexes previously I'd retuned for switch over and received all channels. I retuned again today and now definetly missing one multiplex (i think its d, it had film4 on) and possibly some other channels. Any advice on how to fix and cause would be appreciated.

I too have a missing Mux and I think we'll have to wait until the 18th when the final shift around takes place and the planned power increase takes affect.
