The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Mike Dimmick: Storeton Wales is, as you mentioned horizontally polarised. It is intended as a "regional correction" transmitter for viewers living in the North Wales coastal area who would otherwise only be able to view English services from Winter Hill. The COM muxes are received direct from Winter Hill. A similar arrangement exists in Derby where a relay transmitter sited in Littleover transmits East Midlands BBC1 and ITV1 to viewers in the Allestree and Chaddesden areas who have to receive their tv signals from Sutton Coldfield. The line of site to S/C from the target area is similar to that to the Littleover relay which uses horizontal polarisation, enabling reception on aerials beamed on S/C.

this transmitter seems to be the reason why we get tuning problems with winter hill. Sorry but we don't want regional Welsh channels in England, especially foreign language

Incidentally, Chris bach, it is probably Meol-y-parc you get, not Storeton Wales - check the channels.
S4C is great - live rugby; cricket, lots of singing

The above Welsh Freeview information implies that the 3 multiplexes on C57, C53 and C60 all put out the same programming. This is definitely NOT the case, as, for example, I receive HD programming on C60, ITV, etc on C53 and BBC1, etc on C53.

Robert Lee: Yes, I have to recode the site to make it show the different Welsh options as this is only one of two transmitters like this. Will sort soon.

The ERP for Storeton Wales multiplexes is stated as being 2 kW.
Is not this figure incorrect, and should only be 500 W?
link to this comment |
Corin: This is correct. Wales transmission are 2kW horizontal. Granada's are 560W vertical.
As the photographs of the mast shows, each Wales transmissions are directed towards Wales and similarly Granada's are in the opposite direction:

Dave Lindsay:
What then is the source for this figure or 2 kW ERP?
Are you claiming that OfCon are incorrect on page 7 of their document at
http://stakeholders.ofcom….pdf
which states an ERP of 500 W and that Digital UK are also incorrect on page 4 of their document at
http://www.digitaluk.co.u….pdf
which also states an ERP of 500 W?
2 kW is high power and is the ERP of the main transmitter, Moel-y-Parc, not Storeton Wales.

"2 kW is high power and is the ERP of the main transmitter, Moel-y-Parc, not Storeton Wales."
Correction -- ERP of Moel-y-Parc is 20 kW,
not 2 kW.
