The TV licence is law for anybody who views live tv reception.
It is not their responsibility to make sure that your system is in full working order to receive the signal that they are transmitting.
As a resolve you should check if a digi box fixes the problem as the issue could lie with your freeview tuner inside the tv.
Failing that the issue will be with the aerial itself or the coax cable.
If you system has been in place for 20years plus the chances are your in need of an upgrade.

We get Freeview from the Midhurst transmitter. On Channel 3 (ITV) we see Meridian West local news but on Channel 103 (ITV HD) we see Meridian South East News. What is the reason for this?

There are continuing problems receiving HD (channel 58) from the Midhurst transmitter. All other channels are OK. The HD channel is showing as Signal Strength = 60% with Quality varying between 0% and 100%. We have been getting this variation for the last few weeks. Tonight HD is unusable.

HD Service on ch58 (770.002MHz) has been dropping out over the last few days in Faygate. Signal strength/quality goes from typically 95/55 to 0/0 for several seconds, and then recovers. Other channels seem OK.
What's happening?

you may well have a problem with your system.
Not all faults are related to transmitters and there are no systems that last forever without upgrades or maintenance.

james: Since your just 11km from Midhurst, I suggest at least part of the problem is thatyou might have too much signal....

My parents are having problems with reception. Post code rh20 4pu. We have checked all cable connections. They have recently installed BT sports system so I am not sure if that has an influence. The reception is breaking up on all channels. Please advise.

Alan Armour:
Having BT sports does not make any difference.
How have you checked the connections and cables? (with a test meter?)
