Couldn't they have put COM7 and COM8 on all 80 transmitters that broadcast DTT from the outset in autumn 1998? To get round the limited range of UHF channels, couldn't COM8 have been C37 (as SFN) from all sites, and COM7 whatever's free in the C31 to C35 range?

What I find strange is that Beacon Hill used to be purely group c and only use channels 53 and above. What used to be a Stocland Hill channel (33) has been used for Beacon Hill com7.
So that means none of the original Beacon Hill receiving aerials are suitable for the new channels and channel 33 is no longer available to be correctly allocated to Stockland Hill, along with 34!
It makes you question the abilities of the people who make these decisions!

Derek Carpenter: The purpose of COM7 (and COM8, if it materialises) is to encourage viewers to purchase receiving equipment that supports DVB-T2 and where necessary, a new aerial suitable for reception of group "A" frequencies in readiness for a planned change in about 2018 to the arrangements for transmitting the existing COM muxes. This involves using C22, C25 and C28 running as SFNs for the COM muxes which would be required to use DVB-T2 to achieve this. Transmitters which use frequencies above C48 for the PSB muxes would then be allocated new frequencies (often in group B ) so that the C49 to C60 section of the UHF spectrum can be sold off for 4G/5G. Beacon Hill would therefore become a group K transmitter. Stockland Hill could still use C33 as SFN with Beacon Hill in the (unlikely) event that COM 7 is extended to other sites.

I have just retuned to the Stockland Hill TX, but do not appear to have received HD channels, i.e. 101, 102, 103 etc.
Recently other channels have not been received 19, 20.

Why would you mention people being rude or disrespectful? I can only conclude that people are so fed up with their service that they respond accordingly: get the service right, as obviously it is not a good service. Ours is dire.

Sue: Maybe you do something about it instead of coming onto a website which is not responsible for your service to complain?
