ROGER FURNEAUX: Accusing people of lying is a strange way to ask for help! If a main transmitter such as Caradon Hill was off air there would be hundreds of complaints, but you're the only one reporting a problem which would suggest that it's more likely to be something at your end. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Do you have an amplifier? If so, is it receiving power? Resetting was the worst thing to do as you have now deleted all of your correctly tuned channels, making it far more difficult to see when the problem has been solved.

I live in the pl15 area and am reasonably close to this transmitter with a high elevation. I am constantly losing the C21+ channels Quest etc. This seems to happen every few weeks for a few weeks then on a rescan suddenly comes back. Does anyone have any information on why this happens. I have tried a 4g filter. New good quality cable and finally a good digital Ariel.. nothing changes.
My tv is a LG 42cs460-za with current version software.

Iva: What signal strength and quality readings do you get on the channels when they are working? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see your predicted coverage. Also, you do not not have a digital aerial as no such thing exists (an aerial is a piece of metal which receives radio signals and does not know or care if they are digital or analogue).

I can't receive the com 8 BBC channels at all - I live in Brentor where there is no line of sight to the Caradon Hill transmitter. Until the change to com 8 I had perfect reception. Do you think that this situation will be resolved?

Colin Dawes : COM8 has not yet changed frequency at Caradon Hill and isn't due to do so until Spring 2019. It is still on UHF channel 37.

What is "Spotlight" not transmitted on BBC1 HD Channel 101 (even if its not filmed in HD)?
It means we end up using BBC1 channel 1 most of the time.

Kevin T: There is only one national version of BBC One HD for the whole of England which doesn't carry any regional news. This is mainly down to the cost of having to upgrade the whole broadcast chain to enable a HD version of each BBC One region to be created (all the other equipment and links in the chain between the regional studio and transmitters would need to be upgraded for HD even if the studio cameras are only SD). The BBC would also need to pay for a lot more satellite capacity. Whilst the BBC have said they are working on finding lower costs methods of launching BBC One regions in HD, it seems unlikely that all regions will be made available in HD on Freeview and satellite until the SD versions close.

StevensOnln1: Thank you, I now understand the problem. I need a TV which can detect the Red screen and temporarily switch to SD channel :)

Paul:
Please put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker That will show you that Caradon Hill still carries COM 7 and COM 8 and will show how well you should be getting it.
There are a number of factors that can affect your reception of these temprary transmissions. You need to have a TV that is Freeview HD equipped - do you get BBC1 HD on 101? If so, your TV is so capable. Is your TV tuned to the correct channel fo COM 8 from Caradon Hill? What signal strength is being reported by your TV set on the COM 8 multiplex? It needs to be between 60% and 85%, no more and no less. Are all your aerial cables in good condition with good connections all the way from the aerial to the TV?
