I live on the shore`s of the Menai Straits directly opposite the Llanddona mast , i can see the mast from my living room . My signal strength is 67% and every time a large wagon passes my picture goes off and have to wait for signal to return , the road is below me and should be no interference problem which i can see . Could you please help me as it infuriates me when i am watching a program as i miss out bits usually at the wrong times , thank`s.

Alan Cefni Jones:

Where abouts is your aerial? Is it on the roof? In the loft? or are you using one in the same room as the TV set?

Ideally, you should have a good wideband aerial mounted outside above the roof so it is as far away from the traffic as is possible.

Without a full post code, we have no idea how close you are to the transmitter at Llanddona so cannot advise about signal strengths, but 67% seems a bit low if you are within eye sight.

Eric Hewitt:

Your TV is not remembering the new channel settings. To cure that, unplug the aerail and perform an automatic tune. When that has completed, plug the aerial back in and then do another retune. The TV should now remember all the channels. Check that it has found the want Welsh service.

I'm in the North of Anglesey and the nearest transmitter is Llanddona. I've tried the automatic retune more than once but despite a 'high' signal strength I am missing lots of Freeview channels. I have 10, 14, 15, 18, 24, 33 then a huge gap to 100. It seems I'm not getting ArqA and ArqB? Could that mean I need a new aerial?

Fred:

Without a full postcode we can't say what your predicted reception might be. There maybe nothing wrong with the aerial if you are getting the main BBC and ITV channels.
Did you used to get the missing channels? You appear to be missing the 3 COM multiplexes SDN, ArqA & ArqB.
Have you changed anything lately?

Chris.SE,
Sorry for the late reply only just got the email to say a comment had been added.

Postcode is LL68 9NE but the Penysarn side of the hill. I assume that hill must be the problem! I have not changed anything and not been here long enough to know if more channels were ever available.
