Hello
I am in Crawley with my aerial pointing at Crystal Palace and I currently only get analogue BBC1, BBC2, ITV, and CH4.

I wanted to make some preparations pre the switch over this holiday but by using a borrowed Freesat box I find that am receiving no digital signals at all. The Digital TV website says that there will be no signal until the actual switchover date ! Is this true ? It doesnt seem correct to me.

Regards

John

John: If you are using a Freesat box then that has nothing to do with Digital UK and the terrestrial switchover as it comes from a satellite.

The Digital UK predictor is just that and should not be taken as a definite. Reception depends on a variety of things. Local obstructions are likely to inhibit it whereas those with larger more sensitive aerials are likely to be able to pick things that others can't.

Whether you can get a signal at your location with your aerial is best proved by trying it.

Thank you for supplying this information.
I'm in the South East London / North Kent area.
It confirms my suspicions about why I can't get a picture most of the time on freeview ITV1, Channel 4 & Channel 5 when reception for the main BBC Channels is excellent.
Under the circumstances wouldn't it be a good idea to prioritise channel availability so the most popular TV channels, showing better quality programs, get allocated to MUX groups with the most effective power transmission levels until the Muxs 2 & A deficiencies at Crystal Palace can be rectified?

Thanks to Dave Lindsay who replied to my earlier query.

Was a typo, I meant to say Freeview not Freesat.

Down here in Crawley I cannot get any channels at all.

Regards

John
