Areial on large pole on roof. house in traditional dead zone for freeview. Fitted by engineer. Can't receive most freeview channels. Max strength is 83%. Picture regularly freezes and sound drops very often. On other TV does not detect dtv at all.

Like many here, I noticed problems shortly after midnight.

Tinkered with leads, settings, re-tuned and tried other TVs. Suspected that the transmitter was likely to blame and googled this site in the early hours, raising a smile at some of the comments and incompetance of broadcasting not being able to prompt the viewer with a simple on-screen advance notice of removal of service for a given period.

I'm guessing they work hard and get paid peanuts because there's certainly some monkeys in charge.

What a shambles overnight, no digital or analogue available from approx 00.35hrs UTC. NO WARNING OF IMPENDING SHUTDOWN. I do fortunately have access to Bilsdale Transmitter here in York so I was quickly able to realise that the problem was at Emley Moor. Wide Band Antennas seem to be essential if very poor customer service continues from Emley Moor.

Nearly went out to purchase a new TV and the BBCi page KEEPS opening up on BBC1 - 12 hours on and still not working ok. If I try BBC2 it defaults back to BBC1 and then on the interactive page again. How frustrating !!!

Thankfully I have SKY and VIRGIN channels - they kind inform me if they are working on anything.

I see there has been no ON SCREEN Notification of Transmitter shutdown tonight; I sincerely hope that this means we will not lose reception half way through a film. It seems that the BBC's £3.6billion licence fee revenue is not enough to pay for a Hourly ON SCREEN warning of transmitter shut down during the hours leading up to the disruption. It is bad enough that recently the programmes shown are made either for those with little intelligence or old ladies, not to mention after midnight we are subjected to the highly distracting insert of a person signing, foreign films or reruns of yet more soap operas. Now it seems we have to put up with total incompetence in the form of a lack of informing us of a loss of our services. If British gas cut 1000's of people of without warning for planned maintenance there would be Questions raised in the House of Commons.
It seems our licence Fee goes on grossly high wages and not on programmes or Customer service.

Very upset about having no warning that there was going to be work on emley moore, was in the middle of watching something and just randomly lost signal? Checked all the cables and everything! Certainly expected a lot more with the amount we pay just to watch tv !

Hello,, I live in marsden nr huddersfield. What i wish to find out is after the swichover occurs, will we be able to receive a digital signal down our ariel and use a freeveiw box ?. We currently get our analogue signal from cop hill mast wich is just a deflector mast from emley moor. We are as yet still unable to get channel five in marsden and so i want to know if we will have to go for the freesat option to receive a tv signal.? Thank you for any help with this problem.
