Thanks, but I seem to have solved it. Just a matter of reading the instructions! I dived in to the Sony Bravia settings to discover "Add new streaming channels" Two options here - Google Play Movies and VLC Streaming channels (whatevger they are). So I did these and more channels have appeared. Many are pay channels and most of the others seem to be rubbish, but the problem seems to have to be solved.

Mike O'Sullivanm: Those are apps installed on your TV rather than anything to do with the streaming channels in the 250+ range.
