I refer to my recent email and your reply and having gone through the automatic retune procedure I still cannot get BBC stations on TV or radio. When will the maintenance work be complete? I can only receive ITV stations which is a nuisance as I do not watch these stations.

Ossie Nelson: Since there doesn't seem to be any maintence work on the transmitter, logically the problem must be at your end. If your only getting ITV, then your missing muxes. That sound like you have a problem with your aerial system, with perhaps a damaged aerial cable getting some muxes, but not others.
Easiest thing to do is to swap out your aerial lead - if its damaged, then thats what can happen. Its a cheap way of curing a possible problem. If it doesn't work, then go further up the line to see where the problem is.

My postcode is RG25 3HG OVERTON,Hampshire. Is there any reason why I have lost BBC TV and radio which took place on Sunday 11th October? I cannot believe there is a problem with my aerial when I get perfect reception on ITV Etc. Kindly let me know whether or not that is possible since I did not interfere with the aerial and it does not appear to be damaged in anyway.

Please read the reply from MikeB shown above your latest response. It is perfectly possible for an aerial or aerial lead problem to affect some services but not others. A poor connection can be 'frequency sensitive' so affect just some services whilst others are still good.
So please check the whole aerial system as suggested.

Lost reception on all BBC channels but perfect reception on all other channels. Kindly let me have a possible reason for this sudden failure which took place on 11th October. I have done the automatic retune and channel search four times.

Ossie Nelson: There is presently engineering works at Hannington. That said, it would seem that as you are so close to the transmitter that any low power transmissions would be more than adequate to serve you.
You would be best advised to use the manual tune function to ascertain what the strength and quality is like on the missing channel.
Go to the manual tune screen and enter/select UHF channel 45 (666MHz) but do not press the button to scan/add services/OK or whatever it's labelled as on your receiver. Instead, observe the strength and quality over 30 seconds or a minute, noting whether there are fluctuations. Once done, if there is something there then try scanning that channel, this being that of BBC standard definition TV and radio from Hannington which you are missing.

Dave Lindsay. Many thanks for your reply. I have done as you suggested and there is no signal at all on channel 45. The other channels have quite a strong signal. Does this mean a new aerial?

In weak signal areas or where poor aerials are in use, especially if they're not right outside on the roof, it's always worth checking if you have some new piece of electronic equipment in the house which is radiating interference on the problem frequency. It can be a laptop, internet radio, DAB radio, anything with high speed electronics in it. Try switching anything new completely off and see if it makes any difference.

Ossie Nelson: Have you as yet, ascertained if the problem referred to is also being experienced by anyone else in your immediate area?.
However apart from that, although you may well have carried out the automatic retune procedure, but though, did you carry out a "reset" on the TV prior to the automatic retune?. Reset also being known on some brands as "default setting" / "first time installation" etc.
The reason for mentioned the latter being, that if the tuner has developed some form of glitch, resetting the TV prior to carrying out the auto-tune is about the only thing you can do to help rectify the problem, this procedure being reinforced by disconnecting the TV from the mains for 10 seconds or so after having carried out the reset, then followed by powering it up again and carrying out the auto-tune.
Another point I was wondering about being. Although you have mentioned perfect reception on ITV, what does this equate to as far as signal strength / quality indications are concerned if you carry out a signal test whilst on this channel?.

Hi,
I've just retuned my Humax PVR 9100. (I have to do this manually otherwise it picks up London channels and I prefer South news.)
When I select channel 39, which should be Hannington PSB3 it doesn't find any channels, the only one I'm after is Film4+1.
Any ideas ?
