bryan wade: I don't know why Digital UK would have told you that as if you are able to receive Midhurst you will have the correct region anyway. It is true that currently Hannington does give all six muxes, albeit with variable reception on four of them, but after switchover it is predicted to give only the PSB muxes. After switchover Midhurst is not brilliant, prediction is for good reception on Mux BBCA and variable on the rest. Rowridge incidentally is predicted to give good reception on all muxes both now and after DSO, but that prediction could change if you insert your house number into the table for a more precise assessment - try for yourself by clicking on the link to Digital UK tradeview and altering the address.

bryan wade: I would first establish which transmitters broadcast which regional or sub-regional programming/news.

Give the BBC South main switchboard a ring: 023 8022 6201

According to Wikipedia, BBC South Today has one edition from Southampton:

South Today - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The only sub-regional variation it talks about is "BBC Oxford News" (formerly "BBC South Today Oxford").

I wonder if there are any opt-outs within the main programme. Then there is the same question of Meridian. E.g are there East and West variants?

One thing you might be able to do it receive the analogue BBC and ITV signals from Hannington to see if they vary from those of Midhurst. This is one way to test whilst South Today is on air. You will probably need two TVs on next to one another.

How good the picture is depends on your luck, what with the aerial pointing not in the right direction, albeit that it's only 50 degrees away. Hannington analogue BBC1 is on Ch39 and ITV is on Ch45.

We are in Cliddesden RG25 2JL, near Basingstoke. Pixellation and loss of sound has been getting steadily worse since late summer. Today, 5 Dec, almost all freeview channels are unreadable. Does anyone know why this is happening?
