Please advise. For the last few weeks we have had intermittent problems with sound/picture signal. Since the weekend (14th March 2015) we have only been able to receive a good signal on BBC1. All other channels are so badly affected it is difficult to see any picture/hear sound. Several resets have been performed on the digital box making no change. All cabling has been checked and is good. Any ideas?

Is anyone else using the Heathfield transmitter experiencing signal problems, we are in the RH17 postcode and have been suffering since the weekend with virtually no picture / sound on the Freeview box and some channels on the TV although these come and go. Before I call someone in to look at the ariel / cabling I wanted to rule out it being a transmission issue as I believe due to engineering works the Heathfield transmitter may be outputting a weaker signal than normal?

i am just moving to TN22 1SB (uckfield) and the house has no airiel, I have a smart tv with broadband installed soon, would i be able to use a boosted external airiel mounted on the front of the house?

Peter: At only 5.6 miles with apparent clear line-of-sight to the transmitter a signal amplifier will likely be way over the top. This is unless it's for the purposes of splitting the feed so as to run to more than one room.

I would get a log periodic aerial and double-screened "satellite"-grade coax cable. For example:

Hi, i live in tn330tu Battle area. i receive good signal and most channels during the day. when re tuning i usually have a choice of transmitter and the end of the scan. east Sussex or Kent.
at night anywhere from 730pm through the night i lose channels and get no signal on 90% of channels. now if i retune for example only to get say 20 channels i can watch BBC 1, 2 and BBC NeWS channels having had no signal on these. the same situation is with itv and other channels. during the day i can get over a hundred channels all working well. i am utterly fed up with dtv, why it was ever brought god knows it is and absolute pain. i have good outdoor aireal and cables are in good shape. i wish that i onle had one transmitter as having two seems to be the possible problem.

PETER: Two transmitters cannot be the problem unless the wrong one is selected, and by "wrong" I'm referring to the one which the aerial does not face.
If your aerial is directed to Heathfield, then you can't quite see it, with the trees of Great Wood being on the brow over which you're receiving. So it's not surprising that intermittent reception might ensue.
Judging by the terrain plotter Dover may able to be seen so you might be better off reorienting your aerial to it. The only thing is I can see lots of trees close to your house which could potentially hamper efforts if they are in front of the aerial.

I live in Oxted all the people around me have had very poor reception for years but the last few weeks it is absolutely useless.
I am using catch up or Iplayer.
It seems from other comments we are not the only ones.
I plan to go satelite and cancel my License fee.
I have tried unplugging and resetting woith marginally improved results but really stil unwatchable
