Peter Merritt: That is correct.
Before switchover transmission of HD services is not standard from transmitters which is why Hemel Hempstead's transmitter doesn't carry it.
Crystal Palace has a pre-switchover HD multiplex which is on lower power than the standard definition services.

I live in North Watford and noticed last night that I couldn't get Mux C (Dave etc.). I could hear a clicking sound as though the channel is trying to get through but no image.
At the same time Mux A, which had disappeared for months, is now back.
Do you know what the problem could be?
Thanks.

Post Code HP169NA I have ongoing problems with television reception except via the satellite dish. All goes well for weeks and then problems occur. There is currently no freeview reception and the message on the respective sets is no signal check antenna / cable. How do I sort out this ongoing problem?

J Metcalfe: Perhaps it is the inversion effect (follow the link for explanation). The predictor suggests that them multiplex that carries ITV1, C4, C5 and others is marginal.
You will probably have to live with it until switchover when the transmission power is boosted by 10 times.

Recently changed from communial aerial to having an aerial fitted - the fitter who fitted the aerial said the signal was stronger from Hemel Hemstead than Crystal Palace - the aerial previous has always given us a good picture
the picture we now get wavers all the time and we have no HD
Will this improve

Peter Merritt: What was the reason for having your own aerial fitted? Did you get HD with the communal aerial?
You won't get HD services from Hemel Hempstead until switchover on 18th April.
What is the "wavers" you describe? Is this digital television (Freeview)?
What are you using, i.e. set-top box, TV? If it's a set-top box, then how are you connecting it together?
Has this problem started since the new aerial was installed?

We had our own aerial fitted because the co
mmunal aerial we were attatched to is to become redundant
the picture quality we had previously was better than now which constantly "twitches " and sometims goes off for a moment
the tv has built in Freeview
the aerial was fitted on the gutter face board by a local aerial specialist - thanks
