G McLaughlin: "We" will not be carrying out anything. This site is independent of broadcasters.

The BBC standard definition services from Huntshaw Cross change frequency on 22 May. This is because the current freqency is to be made available for 4G mobile services.

This is being done as part of a national programme to move such channels onto lower frequencies.

Our darstedly SONY retuned itself overnight, as is its infernal wont. We can receiver seven DTT transmitters, so the wretch frequently
bestows its preference over ours. A bit like politics : you vote, then they do what they want :-)

michael : Although Sony menu systems leave a lot to be desired (to put it nicely!) "some" models have a switchable "auto service update" which is accessed via the technical set up menu, you should check if yours has and if it does then disable it.

If you cannot find the aforementioned then this can be checked out if you supply the model number of the set in question.

Could you please advise why, after the recent work on the hunshaw cross transmitter, that I have the BBC news channel on channel 807 on 1 tv and the usual 80 on my other 2 tv's.

jb38, the SONY menu layout is very weird, one of the most "user-unfriendly" I have ever come across. This morning I set up a HUMAX FreeSat system for a friend - a delight in comparison. I will, however, search again for a disabling option - when I have an hour or so to spare and am in a very good mood :-)

michael: Yes, quite so! and with the aspect that makes matters even more complex when dealing with Sony devices being that there is no common menu standard across their range of models, something that makes it somewhat difficult to give advice on anything involving procedure, but though with the minor exception to that said being where the "Auto Service Update" facility is concerned, because should your model have this feature then its usually always found under the - Digital - set up / Technical - set up menu, a PIN code (9999) usually being required to access this section.

Ilfracombe D3&4, fed from Huntshaw, has likewise moved down to clear the 800MHz band. But so has Big Bully across the water. So CCI remains. The extra 3dB (how kind) will help a few, but only a few. This is but a wisp of what is to come. France is now urgently considering clearing 700MHz so as to trickle-feed the state's depleted coffers, as reported by Le Monde. Ofcom is like-minded and may well be forced to follow suite so as to minimise CCI in the South from across Le Manche. It could get real cosy when
all which was formerly spread over the 800 and 700 MHz bands has to share beds in the 600MHz band..

After May 22 retune, no EPG on approx 80% of channels, including all BBC, ITV3 & 4, and other channels worth watching (Dave, Quest, Really, E4 etc). Have tried to do the retune as per the freeview reset procedure, but no joy. Previous boxes & box upstairs have full EPG and channel list in order, all fed off one aerial line (upstairs box is even fed from the RF out in the box downstairs, which shows no EPG?!). Will a factory reset do the job, as opposed to simply retuning channels? Getting fed up with freeview & all the issues, but Sky engineers are useless & refuse to attach a dish to my chimney. HELP!
