naomi dure: The William Hepburn tropospheric ducting forecast predicts strong ducting affecting an area including South Wales, Devon, Dorset and across the English Channel. taking place from this afternoon (23rd September 2013) and into tomorrow. It is likely that during these conditions signals from out of area transmitters could cause interference to your normal reception. Mendip, for example shares frequencies with Huntshaw Cross on the COM muxes.

I live in Poole Dorset. I have been having signal problems for ages. But today is the worst it has been.
I have checked and there are no problems in my area, so why am i missing half my channels, after i retune again and again etc.

These "transmitter engineering" notifications are what Mick Jagger would call "useless information". WHAT ARE THEY ACTUALLY DOING ? DSO is done, they have kicked us out of the 800MHz band. So what on earth are they up to now with this secretive engineering work? We are paying for non-ending disruption and are entitled to know WHY !

Please can we have a proper (i.e. accurate) update soon? 'Interuption' is massively underplaying the issue, for three days now I have had just 8 channels, on which there has still been interference. When will this be sorted?

When will BBC4 HD be broadcast from Huntshaw Cross? It is more than a tad disappointing that only 2 of the newly available HD channels are available in N Devon.

Chas.: It's unlikely as the plan for the new HD multiplexes has been drawn up. It isn't likely to change until 2019 at the earliest.

Chas.: So how did it happen that there wasn't sufficient capacity for future HD Channels included in the planning of the HD multiplexes? I note that the Stockton Hill transmitter has a similar problem, whereas most other regions have all. Does this mean that there is no capacity for future HD Channels?
If it was known at the planning stage what future Freeview HD services were to be broadcast in my area, the knowledge of this would have influenced my choice of equipment, having recently purchased a high end Freeview TV, PVR and Bluray recorder.
The content of BBC4 makes it my favourite Channel, including a good proportion of music, the enhanced uncompressed sound quality HD has over SD makes it more desirable to have this Channel in HD.
If anybody has details on what's happening regarding future HD channels and their availability from Huntshaw Cross inc ITV, Channel 4 and Five can you please post them.

Chas, the Southwest has been selected for the altruistic privilege of contributing generously through the licence fee so that other regions may enjoy more HD - and so that producers, managers and directors may enjoy enhanced remuneration and pension benefits for their valiant services to the nation. Probably.
Where there is a line-of-sight to 19°E, Freesat is evidently the safest option - unless an errant lump of rock decides otherwise...
