The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

Cirencester

I have always used the mendips Transmitter for my TV signals. I understand Cirencester local transmitter is broadcasting the main station programes. Is this the maximum amount it will ever produce. I live at GL7 2EB which seems to be on the fringe of all the main stations. I am pretty satisfied with the signals I receive. My aerial is roof mounted with a ten ft pole on my bunglow

Fred Wheeler: I would stick with your aerial pointing at Mendip, as on 28th March 2012 you will then be able to watch the services from all six multiplexes. The ArqB multiplex should come online for you on 28th September 2011.

The "public service relays" such as Cirencester will never have any additional services as the commercial operators do not regard it as profitable to broadcast from them.

Thank you. I am bee ess fourty seven tee are and the initials are aich oh.
I called the Digital TV Help Line and they gave me the number for the Trade help line and neither could offer anything other than no problems are reported at Mendip and thererfore it's not the signal. They blame my arial/box and suggest I re-tune the receiver.
Neither of these account for why the ITV mplex 54 is still at 60% and working OK.
I retuned the box but it made no difference. My other box shows the same problem. The aerial looks fine. I have no amplification. I am an electronic engineer with ham radio experience.

One more thing - in March 2011 the Trade View of the postcode checker said the BBC mplex C61 and the ITV mplex 54 coverage were 96/98% and 99/99% respectively for me. It now reports them as 84/89% and 87/92% respectively.

Have you any idea why they have reduced?

Marlborough

Hi! My postcode is SN8 1RR on the western edge of Marlborough. New aerial is on a pole attached to the chimney. Our aerial is pointed at Mendip. For the last fortnight we have had very poor reception in the mornings and evenings/overnight. Today, we have had poor reception all day. I have had all equipment, aerial and amplifier checked by a TV aerial specialist who said there's nothing wrong with the equipment and blamed the signal. As of tonight, we have channels on Multiplex B (Dave, Sky News etc.) but nothing else.
I've retuned both TVs and the DVD recorder with no improvement. Aerial guy recommends Freesat. Any ideas? Many thanks!

Hi. I'm base in Swindon. My TV with a digital box is not recieving any signal.

The TV aerial looks ok.

Is there any issue with the Mendip transmitter tonight?

Or do i need a TV Aerial engineer to look at the areial cable?

> There is a list of the switchover order ...

Thank you - that is a very useful site and just what I was looking for!
Nothing in the weeks before 27 July (in case it was delayed) or the weeks after (in case it was brought forward) seems relevant. The closest is Sudbury (London) upped the power of ArqA on Ch 60 to 100kW on 20 July, but I cannot see that being a problem with Mendip Ch 61. The other Sudbury mplex are on 41, 47, 56 and 58 so again no problem.

My line of sight to Cork is across water - do you think I could be getting Irish (or continental?) co-channel inteference?

John-Ha: I'm still not sure what your postcode is, but you won't get a signal from the RoI or Sudbury (Essex) in the Bristol area.
