The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

For a long time had problems with channel 67 reception on retune lost all 52 & 67 tried everything so replaced my stb with a Sony DT 500 tv recorder now receive all channels with such a high signal & quality levels have had to remove aerial amp I am in a poor signal area in Poole get good reception now from Mendip in all weathers consider extra expence well worth it.

Brian Hudson: When Arq A (COM5) moved to 67 on Sept.28th, the Mode changed to 8k (the same as Arq B was before the 28th). If you had reception problems with Arq B previously then you will continue to have problems with Arq A until the power increase next March.

I previously didn't have a problem and reception was OK immediately after the 28th. changeover, and strength seemed similar to before. Now however, the strength seems somewhat lower and I've noticed that they are supposedly transmitting with 3/4 FEC instead of 2/3 FEC as previously, according to Digital UK's Trade view page. This change will have the effect of reducing the noise margin by 1.5dB or so as far as I can see, which means if you have marginal reception you may lose it all together. However as some of the other information there in relation to the COM muxes is wrong, I cannot be certain and I'm investigating further, but it would explain the current poorer reception.

Brian Hudson: Apologies, I can't remember where the Arq A FEC info came from, I'm checking further.

Mr Mendip: If you lose programmes on Arq B, then you will have to retune UHF C52. I don't know for certain, but I suspect it may be box/set dependant.

I live in Midsomer Norton and have lost all channels in the com 5 section. I have only 85 channels when I retune,, except once a few days ago, when I got 106 . These extra 21 have disappeared again this morning. Help, this is very frustrating.

Ceejay: Check for single frequency interference on C67, such as an RF modulator of a VCR or Sky box set to C67/C68.Also check cables and connectors. You are predicted (using the postcode of the local primary school as a reference) to have good reception on all muxes from Mendip.

Since the last retune at the end of september I've had problems with com5 & com6, have had the rare day when the reception has been fine but 99% of the time all channels on those 2 have been unwatchable. Windy conditions certainly effect reception on com5 & 6 which wasn't the case prior to the last retune but today com5 & 6 are booming in, 100% on both signal & quality and no fluctuations either, doubt it will last long though!

In my case it's not too strong a signal that's causing the reception problems with com 5 & 6, the good reception I had only lasted one day, it's unwatchable again now, I still have around 70% signal strength bit the quality is all but gone, it's hovering around 5-10%
