Even though Digital UK predicts a terrible forecast from Midhurst for me, I still get five out of the six MUXs perfectly and mux D variable.

Matt: You will get a full strength signal for all services on 14th March 12, but you may first find your service gets worse in September 2011.

Well it works now, and thanks to combiners I get signal from Crystal Palace, midurst and Guildford.

On a K/CD combiner, on the k side is an A+E combiner. On the A side is Crystal on the E is guildford. On the C/D side is Midhurst.

I am a radio ham, thus I like fiddling and complicating things.

Matt: OK, but with every transmitter around you changing their transmission modes and frequencies every week once we get into September I suspect you will have a lot fiddling to do.

I don't see how you can possibly turn off analogue channels when half of those channels (ITV1 and Ch4) are pushed out on low power for Freeview. Will you be giving me a grant to boost reception?

D White: Digital UK's advertising is maddeningly simplistic.

Yes, analogue is switched off - in order to replace the analogue signals with far higher-power digital ones. See the 'Comparison of analogue and digital signal levels' above. The actual digital power levels will be lower than current analogue levels, but if anything the coverage areas are expected to be larger than current analogue coverage.

Basically, if you have good analogue reception, you should have good digital reception after switchover.

It looks like the pre-switchover digital power from Midhurst may be concentrated in one direction. All directional restrictions are removed at switchover, with transmissions moving to the main antenna that analogue transmissions use now, which may mean that the effective increase in your direction is even larger.

It shows all the transmitters receivable. You can click on all of them to see their coverage around you. As has already been said - Midhurst's radiation pattern is like a dog's dinner with various restrictions in various directions. Visit for more info: http://www.wrightsaerials….pdf (GU84AD)
