Oh dear! what has happened to Freeview again?
We have just got over the biggest retune in history and now channel 15 is telling me to do it again. Are they all totally incompetent?

In reply to the question about the impending loss of Film 4 on channel 15, you can see from the list at the start of the page that it has moved to PSB2.
Manually retune C60 and C55 to get back Film 4 on 15 and a bonus of Film 4+1 too on 45.

I can understand why people get annoyed over re-tuning... but surely by now freeview,tv's or boxes should be able to re tune themselves.. but thats not allways a good idea.. I have a goodmans box that BBC gave me for free due to my deafness. It has a habit retuning London TV which is very poor due to New reading train station building having alot of metal work round it!. so am stuck with Oxford... signal is ok but like anytime it has its ups and downs.

Hi there today this morning apart from BBC channels all others come up no signal! its very heavy fog here this morning... its weather conditions nothing any one can do... if anyone else experience this don't re tune or play with your tv aerial just wait for weather conditions to change. least with the old anolouge tv just get lines but still get a picture and sound....

rob: No signal whatsoever on Malvern transmitter since around 11pm last night. Also heavy fog up on higher ground where mast is located.

Andy: If fog was a problem for Freeview transmissions, you'd have a lot of complaints on here from people in the Edinburgh and Fife area as the Craigkelly transmitter has been shrouded in mist and fog several times in the past week.
I'd suggest you check with any neighbours using Freeview to see if they are also having problems.

This page is about Oxford, so I don't know why there's a question here about Malvern.
Anyway, regarding the problem with Malvern, can you email a TV shop in Worcester to see whether they have the same problem? The transmitter operators are more likely to believe reception reports from the trade than from the public.

Hi,
I live in Shipton-under-Wychwood OX7 6DY and have been having breakup of the picture on all BBC channels (all others are OK) but only at weekends and only from about 9pm onwards. This has been happening for the past few weeks, before that there were no problems, and I have not made any changes to our TV or roof aerial (which is about 2 years old). I would be grateful for advice.

Stephen Pickering: There was/is engineering work at Oxford, so if your following the trend of everyone else...see if your signal is too strong. BBC Channels tend to be strongest, so are liable to breakup first. Go through the normal thing of bypassing any booster, etc.
Goodness knows why they should be a particular time, but it could also be external interference - check timers, etc as well.

I didn't know about the engineering work at Oxford. Perhaps that explains why Oxford local DAB has recently been alternating between normal full strength and about 50% strength.
Local DAB transmissions are not checked by the BBC's reception advice tool.
