Further to my complaint of 6th July, UHF channel 22 became "good" for a while, during which time I rescanned and got back Dave and its cronies. Over the days since then, UHF channel 22 went "bad" again , losing Dave, then "good", then channel 24 went "bad". Obviously something was going on, but today Monday all channels are "good". I think it's unlikely that any aerial amplifier in my B&B could make single UHF channels erratic while leaving the others unchanged. As I got Dave on UHF channel 22, I guess channel 21 must be the HD one that my SD TV wouldn't recognise.

DaveW:

There are no known problems with the Rowridge transmitter, indeed others report no problems at all.

There could be a poor connection in your aerial cables and/or plugs. That is known to cause selective problems with one frequency only, as you are experiencing. So please carefull check all the aerial connections you can access.

Do others in your B&B using the same aerial system have the same problem? If not, then the problem is within your part of the property.

ron: Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted signal strength etc. Do not attempt to retune as this will cause all of your correctly tuned channels to be deleted before searching for them again, leaving you with no way of knowing when the problem is fixed.

I have just retuned my TV and digital recorder following on screen announcements about channel relocation. Now I am not receiving any channels on COM7 but otherwise all appears to be OK. I have tried the freeview reset procedure and am confident that there are no problems associated with the aerial (loft mounted) or cabling. Any comments or suggestions would be most welcome. My postcode is SO32 2RR

Stuart Tier: Does your TV have a manul tuning option in the menu? If it does, select C31 and wait a few seconds (most TVs will then display signal strength and quality readings). If those readings are stable try running a manual tune on C31 which should restore the missing channels, otherwise let us know what strength and quality readings you get.

Onscreen announcements say retune on Wednesday.
BBC News is still on channel 130 not 231.

Peter Ball: Try carrying out a reset (make a note of any planned recordings first) by unplugging the aerial then retuning which should result in all your channels being deleted. Then reconnect your aerial and retune again and you should find BBC News etc on the new numbers.

I have carried out the tests suggested by StevensOnln1. The digital recorder gives signal strength 5 (out of 10) and signal quality 0 for c31 (554 Mhz). The TV does not appear to have method of measurement other than through channel (name) selection and as these are missing i can't check. A quick flick through the available channels gives signal strengths around 90% and quality 75 - 90+%.
I'm not too concerned about the TV as most of my viewing is through the recorder.

I have carried out a c31 manual retune on both devices which found no additional channels.

Stuart Tier: Is the aerial cable mixed up with HDMI and other cables behind your TV? Try separating the cables and keep the aerial as far apart from any HDMI cables as you can, as HDMI cables (particularly thin ones that don't have much screening) are known to cause interference which can affect one frequency without affecting any others.
