Cheers
But the fact that 3 seperate televisions on three seperate arials all failed at the same time would point out the faults not at my end.
Needless to say 30 minutes after my email all came back again.

SO42 7SX - ARIEL IN LOFT.
Hello,
The 2 tv's that we have running on free view, have over the last 3 / 4 days appeared to be affected by what i can only think is the cold weather. We have always been affected by the wind, more so on itv but with the cold weather we have lost all sound and picture on all channels from about 6pm through to about 1pm the next day.
Is this a common thing with cold weather ???
I am going to try to turn the ariel so the fins are in a vertical position as at the moment they are horizontal and i understand that the vertical might be better. Please correct me if i am wrong about this.
Being reasonably close to the transmitter i find it hard to believe we get such rubbish reception.
If i can't get any joy from this i think i might have to go down the route of getting a video sender to transfer the sky signal from the main tv.
Any advice would be appreciated.

IAN MOORE: You are pretty close to the transmitter, although I'll leave it to someone more knowledgable as to whether the aerial should be horizontal or vertical.
The aerial is in the loft, but even so, you can get problems with corrosion, moisture, etc. Since its both TV's that have a proble, start by checking back from where the signal splits to the two TV's, and go back to the aerial itself. I suspect that you've got a break or fault somewhere along that cable, and perhaps water has got in. If its then dried out, your signal comes back.

COM5 gone in the Three Legged Cross/Verwood area again. Happened last winter. I put it down to some issue with standing water somewhere, as it was during all the floods. After the recent rain it has happened again. Odd it only affects that group.

Last night (Wed 12th ) and this morning (Thur 13th) I couldn't receive any channels from Rowridge on the ITV mux (CH4, ITV1,2,3, film4. etc). All BBC channels were fine. I don't think it's my end - two separate receivers behaving the same way. I tried rescanning on one and and all it found was the BBC channels (10 TVchannels only found ). Current status on RR suggests there isn't a problem.
I've read the "reset Freeview" pages and have to admit, haven't tried the power down / disconnect approach - yet. It will be curious that it would only be ITV mux that was affected - don't you think ?

David Fox: Are the two receivers connected to the same aerial?

MikeB: yes the two pieces are PVR and TV - both fed from the same aerial

David Fox: Then you have your common factor, and therefore likely your problem.
