Rustyboy: An amplifier won't help if the signal is not there in the first place, amplifiers will not recreate a non-existent signal and usually destroy a digital signal.
Yes, if you attempt to connect a second power supply to your masthead amplifier "everything [will] just blow up".
To help eliminate the problem, can you try the other two aerial points?

Thank you for your answers they have been helpful.
Just one final question.
I tested the Power supply upstairs and found that I got no signal at all. So the only place the power supply can be is downstairs.
I can receive all the stations on my TV upstairs it is just that the PVR connected to the same aerial does not get all the stations. So I tested the PVR downstairs and it picked up all the stations including the HD ones, so I know it is not a problem with the PVR.
So because of that I thought that if I got a booster to boost the signal a bit more I should receive the all the stations on the PVR as well. If I try something like this HQ 4-WAY Antenna Amplifier: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics or Philex 27812HS 2-Way TV Signal Booster: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics even if it does not work would it damage the aerial or masthead amplifier , just worried if I get one then everything breaks. Rustyboy: You might as well try an amplifier on the point, given that the PVR works OK, but if there is a problem with the cable, such as water ingress, it won't be able to fix the problem.
I think you have already worked out to leave the power supply for the masthead amplifier where it is.

Hi Brian, Is there no chance of receiving HD on C34 from Lichfield before September? I live in Ripley (DE53FW) Would Emley Moor be an option or as this looks to be low power would there be no point?
Cheers
Steve

StevenB: Digital UK's predictor reckons you should get as good a signal on the HD multiplex as you do from Mux B (e.g. CBeebies, BBC Four). However, it shows that a change elsewhere will pretty much wipe this out some time in April.
Emley Moor is too far away and on the wrong side of a couple of large hills.
If you're not getting the HD service now, it's probably because your aerial is an older B-type that doesn't have much response below C38. Do you get reliable analogue C5 from Lichfield, of the same quality as the other four analogue channels?
After switchover, the HD service from Sutton Coldfield will use the same channel that BBC Two (analogue) uses now.

stevenB , ripley is mostly waltham (e/mids) on aerial. unless you live where s/coldfield is the main transmitter for you freesat may be a cheaper option to view hd before switchover? not checked which street you live.

R Callan: If this is the case you should have no problems with the reception of Freeview HD.
Just to check, you have got a Freeview HD set, and not a HD Ready set with Freeview?
Have you tried doing a "manual add" on the C34 frequency?
